Not to mention that Skardu valley is naturally well protected from mountains.So How do we reach Skardu.
There is no proper motorable road leading upto Skardu.
We will need masisve amount of Helicopter's to keep the supply up, which might not be feasible in the first place..
There's only two path in which a army could enter, from NW and SE following indus river.
We just can't simply follow indus from Dras-kargil LOC border ,as it is quite impregnable, the mountains was the reason we fail to move fast during 1948.
In geological sense we need to capture neelum valley first , from there burzil pass , after that follows the astore valley and river and reach chilas and Karakorum highway ,if chilas gone there dies CPEC.
