What's currently happening vis a vis Pakistan is all pretty good for India. I don't think they're suicidal enough to start an actual war; but assuming this talk of terrorism on steroids is true -

1) Pakistan will well and truly be completely naked in front of the world and espc the FATF
2) Now India can just make it a habit like Israel to fly aircraft (within its borders) from time to time and send standoff weapons hurtling towards ripe terror targets. Trying to recruit, train, arm, pay and infiltrate terrorists in batches of 20-40 becomes quite futile (from a morale, strategic and financial pov) once their little launchpads, along w/ major centers of 100-200 can be vaporized in minutes by long range artillery or cruise missiles.

We have to hope that pakistan achieves its goal in Afghanistan, which is to give the Americans a terrible deal and undo all their fighting for the past 18 years. Sounds counter intuitive, but this will make the Americans furious, and they will have their own vendetta against pakistan. Expect pakistan to have leverage during the drawdown and exit, but once the exit happens (it has to eventually), the Americans will want their pound of flesh from the pakis. That's when true economic warfare can be waged against pakistan .

What if China responds? They won’t just sit back and relax while we undo all their geopolitical gains in the Sub-continent. They might not respond militarily but they are presently masters of cyber warfare and I fear I situation where say a Chinki cyber attacking takes down our electricity grid. What can we do in such a scenario?

Cyber attacks can slow our economy for few days.that is all. They can't stop a war much less on terrain like gilgit.

Our digital backwardness is actually a blessing against cyber warfare. On the other hand our retaliation on china will cripple them more severely as they are more digital dependent than us in their systems.

Noises coming from Pakistan indicates that PAK Army will prefer sending terrorists rather than fighting them self's. This include Imran Khan's another Phulwama comment.
At this time when PAK Army is under pressure from their awam to show mardangi we should not let them get away, without loosing their izzat in front of their awam.

India should now capture few posts or create buffer zone's in area prone to infiltration to prevent threatened terror attack, Ideally PM Modi should announce this in his address to Nation. Pakistani awam will force Gernails to fight.
If we don't do this we will have million cuts unleashed on us, I am sure they will find 1million+ from 200Mn odd here.
Where as if we move first we will not only demoralize PAK army and awam but also their economy will be screwed. Buying us peace for a decade or so.
For longer term peace expand the buffer zone till international border.

They were already doing this. Don't fall for words. Terrorism support from porky land was always 100%. They can't ramp it from maximum already.

That's what Imran was trying to do. He was trying to blame future terrorist attacks on India and save porky army from balakot type retaliation. But Modi wouldn't care. Porky army will be striped and spanked regardless of direct attack or proxy terrorism.

Better solution would be to capture areas in pakistan punjab and then barter these areas for gilgit baltistan.

According to Prasun Sengupta (Trishul blog) this is possible... GB is manned by 4 brigades at Skardu, Minimarg, Dansum & Olthingthang, he says that if we do arty fire assualts on Olthingthang, then rest of areas will be easy to capture since it is main supply node for rest of frontier bases and Dansum brigade. He says IA can overwhelm their defences by hepter- borne operation, similar to what was done in Meghna airlift during 1971. Once we capture Skardu, Gilgit will fall too, since Skardu-Gilgit stretch is undefended.

Based on this, I created a small map showing how we can do this. Since we have raised Mountain strike corps, elements of MSC can invade from Kargil; meanwhile elements from 9 PARA can be airdropped to GB-Xinjiang highway so that they can destroy imp. chokepoints like tunnels & bridges, which will slowdown enemy reinforcements; By that time we can rush in our reinforcements.

This is just what came to my mind... others who have more experience with this, as well as Defence professionals in this forum pls. feel free to correct/ give feedback.
