Both Sunnis and Shiites were highly succesful in converting by the sword. More than 600 million muslims in Indian subcontinent were converted fom hindus. My reference was to modern day Jihad. Yes, in general..the aam abduls are very poor in history...I once met a pakistani who claimed that Sikander-e-azam i.e. Alexander the great was a muslim! I pointed out to him that Alexander was born around 200-300 BC i.e. approx 900 years before Mohammed and he looked stunned! Same for all those walking around with Khan surnames in South asia...another observation there are more people with Syed and Qureshi surnames in India, Pakistan etc than there are in Saudi Arabia! ...Syeds are supposedly direct descendants of Mohammed and Qureshi means belonging to the tribe of Mohammed i.e. Quresh. During the Cold War, one of the primary criteria USAF selected its SAC nuclear bomber pilots on was their unwillingness to actually drop nukes. Those who were deemed too eager were rejected for risk of going rogue. It makes sense deep down when you think about the MAD scenario they lived with. 90 per cent of Indian school pass and graduates in the country happen to be SSB rejects. Selection rate is ten per thousand .... every 12th class pass from a good school and every graduate of a good university want to make it through SSB... including the reservationists....

That single most factor of being stamped as "Rejected" in that young impressionable age is enough to hurt one's psychology so bad as to make him "anti forces officers" for ever... every one of them tries to prove he is better by showing service officers down at the first opportunity one gets.... I came across thousands of such cases in All India Services and Class A services. The forum too is not short of it...
