Three Terrorists, Holed Up in House in J&K’s Ramban, Killed by Security Forces; Civilian Hostage Rescued

Three of the five terrorists, who were holed up for hours in a house in Batote along the Jammu-Kishtwar national highway in Jammu and Kashmir, were killed by security forces on Saturday.

"Three terrorists have been eliminated in Batote town of Ramban district of Jammu Zone," said Jammu Inspector General of Police (IG) Mukesh Singh.

An Army jawan was also killed in the cross-fire while two policemen were injured.

The terrorists had been holed up in the house and were located by the security forces after several hours of intense search operations. House owner, Vijay Kumar, who was taken hostage, was evacuated, said officials.

Security forces earlier launched a massive search operation after the terrorists attacked an Army team on Saturday morning. They were encircled by the search parties inside the house after they managed their escape from the scene of the earlier encounter in the highway town in Ramban district, officials said.
