it's not meant for fighter aircraft's ? it's just a rumour that we purchased only longer range version of missiles. Whole system is designed to hit from cruise missiles to tactical ballistic missiles, IRBM's. even so called long range slower maneuvering missiles of S 400 can hit combat aircraft at longer ranges, upward of 200km.
48N6 & 40N6E carry 180Kg high power fragmentation warhead. There seekers have massive range giving them over the horizon capabilities on there own. all it need to do is get close & boom, no maneuvering F 16 getting out without jamming.

its not a rumour... no meaning of purchasing lower ranged missiles when Barak-8 derivates can take care upto 150km... needless "duplication" of assets... waste of resources

Purchase of pantsir is still needed to prevent saturation attacks on S-400... & pantsir comes at the lower most end... a point defence system.

Sati is not the same as Jauhar. Don't mix them up. Sati has been prevalent for millenia. It's in the Mahabharata for heaven's sake. It wasn't compulsory obviously but happened plenty of times. at mach 3.4...G force during turn for it turn out to be around 12 ( 3.4x3.4 ). So missile need to pull 12 times more G than target it intend to hit ( fighter aircraft )
if max G for missile is around 25 than aircraft need to maintain around 2G to outmanoeuvre it during lock face. With 180kg high power fragment warhead & missile massive range, There are high probability of it hitting even maneuvering aircraft at those range ,so myth that this bulky missile can't hit maneuvering target is just that a myth.

That's a pretty big assumption to make, that the US would share such technology with India.. Have you got anything to back your claim..

The US has no objection if the S-400s of both India & Turkey work as standalone systems devoid of any data-linked networking with the SBIRS-High.

US is generally worried about compromising F-35 stealth characteristics, upon integration of S-400 with NATO link 16 and IFF.. There is also, no report on US being fine with standalone deployment of S-400..
