Are our guys firm on the idea that China will be taking on taiwan first and so they are simply working on credible deterrence towards Pakistan?
I don't know much about navy and army but IAF is beyond bad shape and heading towards even worse.
we are shifting away from Pakistan towards China .

China is shifting forces / equipment into Tibet , has been doing so slowly in small quantity for a decade but it ramped up after 2020 .

i think our dear leaders believe we have enough firepower to make sure China wont start a war . so they are probably not that much concerned.

Our leaders have to stop thinking defensively and start thinking offensively for a change. This applies to both countries, Pakistan and China.

Hmm Chenab bridge is completed but it is one component in the whole section which will not be completed this year.
it is upto Baramulla though in future extension will be done upto Leh.one work is going on other line from Himachal to Leh. Last I heard there were proposals to lay railway line upto Rajouri to but that has not get any traction yet.
Not talking till Leh, that will take time. Rail connectivity to Srinagar will be a tremendous push in itself, and road distance from Srinagar to Leh takes some 9-10 hours.
That means, it will take 1 day to arrive in Srinagar from the plains, and another day to reach Leh.

The Manali-Keylong-Sarchu-Leh route is pretty long by road standards and takes a lot of time. The nearest railway station to offload heavy artillery and armor is Chandigarh or Anand Sahib.

Upon completion (end of this year), we can insert division-sized formation including whole armoured brigades in Ladakh from plains (Punjab/UP) within 2 days. This is faster than the speed China can push troops from mainland China.
Doubt that is feasible, the frontlines in Ladakh are still 600-700km by road from the last rail head in Kashmir and are mostly mountainous and have to cross hi altitude passes like zoji la. Anyways the rail line to ladakh was always planned to be via Himachal (as noted by another poster) and that's probably at least a decade away.

This article is a few weeks old, but posting it here as IMO it gives an insight on the thinking of the powers that be. Author is Lt Gen Rakesh Shar, who usually has very sober takes.

Lesson #1 of the Russia-Ukrain war is "War in not Inevitable" :dude:

i think it makes sense because its logical . except people dont behave logically .

if Chinese actually eat their own bullshit propaganda they could very well think they can easily win another India-China war . just like the Russians though before Russia-Ukraine war.

We need similar pikes. Our current inventory uses batons that don't have enough reach.

These will have more reach than hand-held batons, plus the intimidation factor.

Maybe we can order these

What rulebook is IA following where it says fight a spear with a spear?!? Use guns and put an end to this farce, or go full "Avatar" with bows and arrows!!

We have Vajra, Trishul and Tasers ready....all of them are made in India !
We should have a stoner battalion, exclusively hired from sunni muzzies armed with jagged stones - unlimited supply.
We even have exceptionally trained person to lead the group. Just look at that technique.
Just say chinks are burning the book and see these guys destroy them, pikes or no pikes.
