It only tells your local consumers that Indian brands are $200 level mobile phone and Chinese brands are with higher pricing, it shits your own brand images.

The only reputations any Chinese product has in India and globally are "cheap", "substandard", "fake", etc. The only reason why Chinese phones sell in India is because they're cheap. We can import processors from Taiwan/SK.

First Target should be memory chips..
DRAM , storage modules .

Screens are already made.. OLED by samsung.
But mid level will have LCD , so need to expand LCD manufacturing facilities.

I had visited one of the main Airtel centers in North India several years ago. There were probably 20-30 Chinese working there who were employees of Huawei and ZTE.
At that time I wondered if it was possible to remove Chinese equipment for the 5G network , because they had a clear pricing advantage.

Somehow Jio managed to create their own stack and Airtel has used Ericsson and Nokia equipment
