This is not true. Currently, our armed forces sport very outdated equipment, which might be okay for fighting Pakistan but not China.

For example, a large part of our airforce is still outdated Mig-21s, not to mention our dwindling squadron strength. The addition of more LCA/Rafale will offset that balance a little.
Our army is still under-equipped and ill-prepared. Our T-72s are hopelessly outdated against Chinese tanks, whereas BMPs are tin cans. We need to orient our forces to a high-mobility mechanized infantry. Even our basic squad-level weapons are outdated.
The military power/capability gap is increasing in favour of China. Just take our fighter squadron strength, in the next ~3 years, we will at best induct 30-40 LCAs, 3-4 remaining Rafales and likely no additional MKI/Mig-29s (reportedly stalled due to CAASTA). While China is reportedly inducting 100+ airframes every year, it's the same trend in other areas too. China is accruing the benefits of its large economy and its earlier investment in its MIL-IND complex, while we on the other hand are underinvesting even for our current size that is going to screw up our future capability also.

Another poster was talking about having IN CBG sailing to the SCS, need to stop having these Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne and comeback to reality. If we think we have such a choke hold via the Mallaca straights, you will realise that the other end of the choke point PLAAN will be dominating, they will have order of a magnitude more assets there, with better capability. Even USN CBGs are not expected to fight there initially but we expect to just waltz in there in an active conflict scenario?

When did I underplay the situation?
He meant GOI is underplaying the situation
Yup.
Take for example this recent news of Chinese build up in Bhutan, most of this is coming from foreign news or OSINT sources. Very little from Indian officials, it's not like we don’t know that this is happening.
Added: Just for a random comparison Taiwan defence ministry meticulously publishes each and every intrusion of their ADIZ by PLAAF/N immediately after the incident giving the numbers, flight path and types of aircraft involved.
