Sir, now a days many sites (like Google maps) and softwares (Google Earth) have precise contour maps. plus China has already mapped/is mapping that area using drone and sats.
only problem may be yellowish and orangish colour. and reference of LAC. (no idea about detailed grid reference).

All that data provided by satellites etc are not verified by ground surveys but a suryayed Map is accurate down to Grid value and scaling.. a meter map is accurate up to one meter... would you like to share that with your enemies..

Technological limitations of all sensors and seekers are overcome by accurate surveys which then are depicted on the map in terms of distances between two objects, angular displacements and trigonometric heights of the object. A satellite image also gives both in terms of Lats and Longs ... but Lats and Longs do not have universal value Geodically... Earth objects can be fixed objectively by depicting flat earth and then griding it..

Most important is the military uses their Grid system for virtually all purposes and protects the grid system . Why should military activities be compromised because of some stupidity.. specially of an active zone such as Pengang Tso..

I don't think why people are so furious crossing LAC? What PLA did from April? Aren't they aggressor? What happened till aug 29 we painted them aggressor? Did world community came with their military to fight for us chene being aggressor even after we lost 20 soldiers for their aggressive expansion. Ya'll Nibbiars Those saying that the leaked map isn't confidential because these positions and posts have already been published by the media. If you look carefully, we have handed the grid coordinates of our posts to the Chinese, arranged on a platter. They don't need to re-verify things if it ever comes to it. It'll be feed and fire. Some info related to what the posts are meant for what purpose and who/what can be inside the installation will also be used against us. It's as official of a confirmation as it gets. If you pixel peep and think about a few things, you'll be realise what I'm talking about. Rest you can ask the vets. They'll tell you what kind of an OpSec breach this is.

If anything the first alarm came when VK Singh was posted as minister of State in MORTH under Gadkari. Now think the need of an ex army chief under Gadkari that too as a minister of State.

How the FUCK do you lose 900 Square Km of land in Ladakh without the Army intelligence or RAW knowing about it. The Hindu just reported that India lost 900 sq. km of land in the Depsang Plains of Ladakh ! All this while, I thought it was just a 5 or 10 Km of small strip of land.

But 900 sq km is a huge area of land that is equivalent to 30 km x 30 km parcel of land.............it is simply mind-boggling that China can come in and steal so much land without anyone knowing anything about it, until its too late.

What is the point of spending billions on AWACs and all kinds of radar and drones if someone can just come in and take 900 sq km of land, without even firing a single bullet ?

The Chinese must be laughing their asses off in Beijing at how easy it is to steal land from India. They must be marveling at how incompetent the Indian military intelligence agencies are.

This planes range and weapon capacity will be even lower in Himalayas and high altitude due to thin air at take off time.

During an actual war, I doubt any IAF fighters will use Leh, very close to the front line.They will all operate from <1000 feet airfields like Ambala, Bareilly, Adampur etc.
