I understand what you were getting at and I do not disagree. Although, I’m not sure how much help it was to Pakistan who actually ended up with swollen heads and lost half their country. Hindsight is always 20/20 but I think our early strategic choices didn’t hurt us at that point though we still today end up carrying that on our shoulder regardless of the world having changed. This is a completely wrong interpretation of CCP actions, often given by "China experts" who are either on the payroll of CCP or get their information from such entities. This opinion piece originally appeared in Asia Times, another mouthpiece of CCP.

The reason for such paid articles is to convince others: Don't worry, China is not interested in your territory, but just more leverage in wider negotiations and it's just the Middle Kingdom's way of "expressing its power." Tell that to Tibet.

The reality is that Chinese Communist Party leadership are a bunch of greedy thugs/criminals without any sense of morality who will steal as much land and other resources as possible, whenever given a chance. It is how China has increased to its current size: By invading other countries and grabbing territory at every turn. The NY times article that this quotes is just another liberal hit job on Trump; and even it does not show any evidence of a crime. It's simply a fact of life that if you become the US President, other countries will try to push deals with your family business.

Whether you like him or not (and I don't), the fact remains that Trump was the first one to do anything against Chinese government-sponsored business as usual economic takeover always greenlighted by Democrats and Republicans alike.
