As always, taking out a tank by an ATGM does not establish that tank is useless....anything is vulnerable including capital cities in a war. It depends on training, threat analaysis and preparing for it and ofcourse proper tactics and strategies supported by capable equipment. Theses reports are still kind of in gray area about s-300....unless its a first rated power that lost it, I would not judge too much

What would be the thinking behind it to deploy something of ICBM likes in forward areas? This is more psycho impact attempt than actual necessity. One reason is to reduce detection time to enter our airspace but does not make sense....

Thanks to Agni V, we have the ability to launch from anywhere in India, and hit anywhere in China, thanks to its alleged 8,000+ km range.

We could launch from Lakshadweep and nuke China's northeastern tip.

So the latest Agni series missiles have largely neutralized China's Tibet advantage.

Agni V that's for sure is for China. But we should make sure Agni 3 & Agni 4 are in substantial numbers already. Both of these missiles are also capable of raining hell on China.. If we launch them from Bengal or Assam.
We can't take out the Tibet Advantage as their SRBMs which would be in great numbers could strike anywhere in North India.
Anyways It is great to see fear in Chinese as they are very fearful & over anxious race & I don't think they got the balls to strike nukes first. They got no first use policy as Well I think.

Time pass. No matter what happens, current GOI is smart enough to delay major war for as long as possible.

From this brimming and prolonging tension we get to:

1. Focus on self reliance as much as possible
2. Have a leeway when it comes to diplomacy with Russia and USA (a leverage which we can use anytime)
3. Focus on economic decoupling with China (as slow as it might be)
4. Have an excuse to pass defense production related reforms which would have been almost impossible under normal circumstances.
5. Have the army focus on something other than Pak and COIN.
6. Something to get the public's attention away from them
7. Bring to public's awareness of who the actual enemy is.

Too optimistic, generally many tests are conducted before mating a atomic warhead. Other than claims, we have not seen much on this.

Best thing that has happened post standoff is the increase in stature of India and de-hyphenation from the cancer called Pakistan.

Nothing surprising S300 meant to take down mostly planes. Handheld UAV can slip through the net. Hence Russian emphasis on IADS S300 has to be deployed with complementary systems such as planes, guns like Tunguska or Pantsir

Also taking down cheap UAVs with expensive AD is not exactly cost effective even if it could.
