USCIRF as an institution has become a huge liability for the US government.

The countries (India, China, Russia) frequently it targets don't take it's statements seriously. It doesn't wield the firepower to enforce it's "great wisdom" either.

It can also be used as part of some other "reasons" to deny us certain military maal or ToT like the one GE engine necessary for Tejas.

The only time the US administration actually acted on a USCIRF report was back when they denied Modi an entry in Murica post Gujarat riots. That too, was because of widespread protests breaking out across the US (organized by Islamist lobbying grps and our desi lolberts). So the US govt invoked a little known provision to deny him an entry (Modi used to be universally projected as a monster of sort back in those days - both in India and abroad).
