All the present day's best guys are holding 30mm or multi barrel 20mm and they have the capability to adapt various ammos, 7.5 to 40mm grenade launcher.Thats why we called them worlds best.

People calling their helos the world's best is different from the ability to hover, maneuver and fight at 5,500 meters altitude. Siachen is over 5000 meters high. Europeans don't even know what high altitude means. Let alone helos - even the Jaguar can't do combat at those altitudes. It is fine to have a big gun - but the operating environment and conditions for the IAF and IA are totally different from the plains of Europe, deserts of west Asia or the jungles of the far east.

If the helo can't carry a combat load over 5000 meters it is useless for India even if the whole world, National Geographic and discovery channel call it "world's best"

At 5000 mtr we are not alone, "world's best" guys too there, AH-1Z Viper with 6100 mtr,CAIC Z-10 6400 mtr,TAI/AgustaWestland T129 6000mtr

and i dont know their capability is with combat load.The above said helis old version dont have that kind of capability,if they upgraded almost sure they can use their combat load at this height.

May be thats why pakistan eying on these heli.Most deadly the AH-1Z Viper.and pakistan is the best 'buffalo soldier' for US spreading their geopolitical

Even the sellers who call their helos "the best" don't know this, or are unwilling to say in public. That is precisely the point. Pakistan's interest in not necessarily related to the fighting ability of the machine. If you read Air Commodore Haider's autobiography, Pakistan's choices are often related to the bribing ability of the seller.

The IAF of course has evaluated all these helos including the Viper and has made its choices.

Everybody ease up and stick to thread topic please, and @Twinblade's information has always been found to be factually correct and backed up by evidence.

Anyways, that apart, while all the talk of LCH and its subsystems are going on, the focus of the Army aviation is most probably shifting to how to effectively use these assets in coordination with other arms of the army.

Many people miss this, but at 179+33+71 (LCH+AH64D+Rudra) the Indian army is expanding from just 25 odd attack helis to 283 gunships. The IA will have to change/modify/improve many of their current tactics and doctrines to make proper use of this massive expansion.

And call me whatever anyone wants, I'll be very disappointed if the Eastern Army command does not get the largest share of these death angels . We demand reservation/quota/preferential treatment, but we want them. (pun intended)

Kunal ji, i saw a picture from you on military photonet that Chetak firing a milan.

I think adding this capability in LCH is a good option for its high altitude operation,Bcoz milan is light weight,cheap reliable and now building under TOT.

and in high altitude, the target like bunkers and artys are stationary, assuming not a big problem for its salcos wire guidance.

Same time helina and PARS 3 are heavy weight and expensive.Targets like bunkers small building has less heat signature rather than armour vehicles

the cold/rainy weather in Himalaya will make more reduction their IR signature,making the missiles IR seeker more in trouble.They may be only good against armored vehicles.

Pakis are doing better job in Waziristan with their Cobra - BaktarShikan/TOW combination

I don't think PARS3 will be bought, very expensive missile, no money left for such purchases, more likely to buy Javelins since now they are offering TOT, Hellfires are part of the Apache deal which are not only cheaper, but proven and far more effective. I would rather they buy Hellfire than PARS3 as an interim till Helina takes off fully. Hellfires come in 3 warhead choices, Anti tank, Blast Fragmentation and Thermobaric.

Helina should also be further developed with more types of warheads as well so it can be deployed on LCH, Naval Dhruvs etc to take out smaller Naval patrol Vessels with ranges of around 10-15km.

With around 250 LCH+RUDRA planned to be introduced into defense just referring to one of the above posts.....
What will be there individual roles in the near future in case of any conflict / war?
By when will all the planeed heli inducted in defense and whats the division i.e. share of Navy Army and Airforce ....?
