very early hearings on whether twitter's case need to be admitted.
twitter lawyer is citing other country's laws. but in the country's cited, people don't get killed and property destroyed for social media posts.
======
Karnataka High Court to continue hearing today the petition filed by @Twitter challenging the blocking orders passed by Government of India.

Datar: All countries recognise that social intermediaries are also aggrieved person if there is blocking order. Intermediary has right to file appeal.
This will go till that new moron Chandrachud, who would have already prepared ruling against the government. We all know how Supreme Court judges are these days.

Under new IT Rules, those with grievances related to suspensions, blocks, etc, by intermediaries like
@Twitter , @facebook , @YouTube, @Instagram
can now approach Grievance Appellate Committees. Intermediaries shall have to comply with orders of Grievance Appellate Committees.

Ball is in Govt's court, Yi-Long Muskov can do as he pleases, similar to Jack the F4g before him.
I mean some random African country had the cojones to blanket ban Western SM merchants for 2 months before the national election, and we here are doing dhoti shivering.

Banning Twatter is literally lowest hanging fruit, all it will do is make shitlibs ass mad, and the few people who use twitter to complain about something( amazon gave them soap instead of iPhone, or you know govt clerk behaviors ) very upset.

Ofc Nolund will land in Chennai and meet Stalin, and Americunt Ambassador to Al-Bakistan will have a photoshoot in PoK again, along with presstitute puppets warning about US sanctions, but once again, it is up to Govt.

That's what I was thinking. While making these laws, there was no consideration that Elon would buy Twitter and turn the tables. Now he talks about "Freedom of Speech" for everyone; it means Khalistanis and Islamists are fair game for him as much as Indian nationalists are. This guy wants more aggressive engagement online so that there is more visibility and more chatter online. The more people do stuff online on Twitter, the more Twitter's worth increases.

Unless we bring in an anti-terror law that covers social media and other news intermediaries, this is going to bite us in the back.

And also find a way to do something about the recent weaponization of the internet using Starlink in Ukraine. The Department of Defense in the United States is already in talks with Elon Musk to be able to deploy Starlink anywhere. Seeing how Musk used the satellite-based internet to supply communication signal to Ukrainian forces, this could be used against anyone.

Imagine an Article 144 over Kashmir or Kerala happening in the future and the DoD deems that Starlink should interfere for whatever reasons. We need to either be ready to shoot down Starlink/any other hostile satellites or find a way to jam the signals in the future.

Starlinks are a definite internal security threat.

Hope that our ASATs see some real life action if it comes to this.

Everybody is talking about account suspensions and blocks , but I think the bigger news should be this -

(b) the intermediary ... ... shall make reasonable efforts to cause the user of its computer resource not to host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update or share any information that,—

(ii) is obscene, pornographic, paedophilic, invasive of another‟s privacy including bodily privacy, insulting or harassing on the basis of gender, racially or ethnically objectionable, relating or encouraging money laundering or gambling, or promoting enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion or caste with the intent to incite violence;

(v) deceives or misleads the addressee about the origin of the message or knowingly and intentionally communicates any misinformation or information which is patently false and untrue or misleading in nature;

(vii) threatens the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with foreign States, or public order, or causes incitement to the commission of any cognisable offence, or prevents investigation of any offence, or is insulting other nation;

(i) acknowledge the complaint within twenty-four hours and resolve such complaint within a period of fifteen days from the date of its receipt:

Provided that the complaint in the nature of request for removal of information or communication link relating to clause (b) of sub-rule (1) of rule 3, except sub-clauses (i), (iv) and (ix), shall be acted upon as expeditiously as possible and shall be resolved within seventy-two hours of such reporting;

Provided further that appropriate safeguards may be developed by the intermediary to avoid any misuse by users

the platform will be governed in a way that it will conform to local gov rules.so if an indian gov rule allows banning,then elon will be forced to ban that account in india.if there is free speech like in america,then he won't ban the account in america,that is all.

all this hoopla over him being a spoilsport is not true,he can't be according to his own principles.now if gov or the people don't make a fuss to ban certain messages and accounts,that is the govs problem,not elons.

Elon Musk is a belligerent and over confident technical cum business expert. There is no doubt that he will bring back most of the banned accounts. His views are mostly right wing, that he may keep a few left oriented people out.

Might have missed it if discussed earlier but apparently Parag was rude to Elon Musk in a text message exchange

We should rather get majority stake in OneWeb, Airtel already has the largest stake at 30%, add some more money and own it and then subsequently weaponise it like StarLink.

Well the GoUK has little stake, Airtel is the largest share holder, it a few years back had 46% stake. Rewards are higher for OneWeb acquisition.

No only Oneweb but also SES to launch Jio Space Technology Limited in near future and Tata Group is working on Nelco and Telesat.

BIG NEWS INCOMING!

> 90% OF TWITTER ASIA STAFF GOT FIRED

> 85% OF TWITTER INDIA STAFF GOT FIRED

> 100% I REPEAT 100 PERCENT = ALL STAFF OF TWITTER INDIA'S MARKETING DEPARTMENT GOT FIRED! FINITO!

Overall trend suggesting about 50 percent of layoff going to happen through the globe, with more than 7500 some active employees out of which half going to be dropped

is this going to end up as a commentary on how redundant these jobs were?
high percentage of job cuts and yet the service seems to be running fine. would any product continue to function normally amidst such steep sudden job cuts.
