Would you have allowed Americans or Chinese intervention when Indira Gandhi was committing the same crimes as Yameen is doing now?

In a Geo political crisis, regime change is engineered by using affirmative action of like minded proxies on the ground in Political, intelligentsia, military & Law enforcement in that order. Situation is ripe for a Arab spring revolution along the lines of ones we saw in middle east.

Direct military action by India would never take place as the situation does not warrant the same, India would initiate military intervention under the aegis of UN only if their is genocide or civil war with terrorist running amok.

It's not about the military challenge. It's about the political will, to forcefully remove a dictator who is a proxy for both China and Saudi Arabia. Yes, even Bangladeshi navy can possibly do it, but they won't dare. India has no such limitations.

Even though Yameen needs to be removed from power for infringing the democratic process.

The situations as of now at the least doesn't look dire enough.

Usually bombastic media announcements prelude a military action, and we are not seeing it.
There are hints from both western and Indian media that a narrative is being set, but we have to wait.

If there was say extreme economic turmoil, people would have been even more eager to oust Yameen.

Where do we land if we do send paratroopers there? MNDF would be everywhere. Also, we would need a warship to provide support to any troops that land. LHDs would have been ideal for these ops but our procurement process is lacking as always.

The aim is not full scale invasion. You only need to reach out to 4 people : Yameen, Army Chief, Navy Chief, and Intel Chief.

During OP Cactus, just a dozen of our Marcos went in a rubber dingy. No LHD, no nuclear, laser, space weapons involved. And even this was because the guy was fleeing via boat. Yameen is literally sitting inside the country. It's likely that all the ground assets are already in place inside Maldives. He has lost the support of the whole world. He will exhaust his resources and most probably hand over power after negotiating amnesty for himself. That might eliminate the need for OP Cactus 2.0

All the commies from Quint and The Hindu who are spreading fake news of IAF planes waiting to fly, are basically making sure that if any other country takes offensive action and assassinates Yameen, then the blame will fall on India. BIOT is the technical term for the Adoo Attol which houses the US facility at Diego Garcia. British Indian Ocean Territory.

What @tarunraju is saying that given this massive facility, we can't rule the IOR. I disagree, given that they be our allies along with the French. And as per LEMOA, we have access to their facilities at Diego Garcia and in Guam.
