Tata and Mahindra is dependent on Chinese for car batteries once Tesla starts inside India for battery manufacturing the technology and processes will spread in Indian car companies… BYD is nothing but an open sourced Tesla copy and owe its base on Tesla manufacturing set up in China…

The value of a product/innovation is determined by it's accessibility and it's overall impact over a target market, and not by the cutting edge processes behind it's conception or manufacturing.

Tesla vehicles will never be accessible and available for the general public here in India due to the high cost of ownership. In the US they heavily rely on the government subsidies (environment and what not) to bring down the cost.

There exists no clear benefit. The only viable option is to use India as a manufacturing hub for exports.

What Tesla could do is build it's own supercharger network(supporting multiple standards unlike US) in India along with leasing Prime land around it to business chains. Establish Gigafactory and sell those to automotive companies. Let other take care of middle class cars, while Tesla can sell it's brand of cars under Luxury chain.
