Praveen Swami in his musings just can't bring himself to cut the umbilical cord with The Hindu & it's persistent theme of minority mollycuddling.
Around the 24 min mark while describing the Jamaat e Mujahideen a movement ,around WW-1, created by the Darul Uloom Deoband with Indian maulvis heading to the then NWFP to stir up the Pashtuns there against the British with the idea of linking up with the Ottomans - a plot which didn't go anywhere, harkening back to the jihad of Syed Ahmed Barelvi against the Sikhs , who pretty much created the template being replicated every few generations including the present one , Swami chokes on his tongue while being tongue in cheek , a feat only he & people of his ilk can manage , coolly stating that while the Deobandis desired independence from the British , they were not clear on the future form such a state would take in terms of religion , system of governance , etc .
Other than that , this documentary serves as a good primer for thr history of the Pashtunistan movement of both sides of the Durand Line .
