Surprisingly, the population share of rural "turks" isn't exactly that big. Barring urban areas, Kurds take a huge portion too.
Kurds themselves are a different bag of potatoes.
They're secular but lean towards socialism which is... Iffy to me.
Ngl, socialism is better than the current form of governance in middle east but definitely not optimal.

Turkey is not fully urbanized. There are still plenty of rural Turks having medieval beliefs. And not everyone in urban setting is liberal and secular Turks. There are enough of them out there who still have fantasies of Ottoman Empire 2.0. Otherwise how would this moron Erdogan win and be in power for almost 20 years now? Most of his supporters are religious Turks.
