I have one simple question for those who think shaping is all there is to stealth:
We know that the US version of the F-35 and the export version of the F-35 "look the same," or "look equally stealthy."
Then why is it that the export version of the F-35 has a RCS of 0.1 sq meters and the US version of the F-35 has a RCS of less than 0.001 sq meters?

Nothing special in the F35 sensors :
AESA, well known.
advanced IRST, but not so advance because can't follow a moving target.
Communiction nod, well known.
It’s IRST is in an awkward position. It is more focussed on Technology whereas manoeuvrability is compromised.

Source of the data that export variant is having 0.1 M2 RCS, coz if thats the case then no one will buy it.

Italy’s Navy-Air Force tussle over the F-35 comes to a head

Summary: Italian AF and Navy are fighting who gets the next F-35B to roll off the Italian production line. AF also wants Bees aside from As (greedy), Navy wants Bees fast to hedge against Europe losing UK carriers due to Brexit (according to Itslian Defence Ministry source, jets in French CDG and Italian Navy' Cavour are "obsolete"...

Monsieur even french are bound by laws of nature and physics. it doesn't matter what some admiral said. You can not increase element count above 1500 without moving from X band to Ku band, it's physically impossible for such aperture  even 1500 is impossible... best RBE 2 can achieve is 1000-1200 TRM using GaN probably that's it.
I agree.
No one said that there will be the same T/R modules in the smaller RBE2 than in the bigger APG81.
But remaining on the sole old pic of a prototyp was not fair.

if active cancellation actually worked, then Dassault 6 gen wouldn't have that easy to identify facet + blended edge stealth shape but it clearly is
Active cancellation need elecrical power and regular upgrades in hard, soft and intelligence. It's a solution, but not the sole solution.
Even US is developping active cancelation, despite beiing a leader in air platforms stealth.

I am looking forward to this. https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Ae...to-lead-Japan-s-fighter-project-with-Lockheed

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. (MHI) is expected to receive technical assistance from Lockheed Martin Corp. to develop a new fighter jet for the Air Self-Defense Force, government and ruling coalition officials said Friday.

Lockheed Martin, the maker of the F-35 stealth jet, is likely to join the fighter project as a subcontractor for the Japanese company, the officials said.

Specifically, the U.S. defense contractor is expected to provide MHI with technical assistance to do with an integrated radar and missile system as well as improving the plane’s mobility and stealth, the officials said.

The new fighter, which is known as the F-3 or F-X and is expected to cost around $40 billion (about ¥4.16 trillion), will replace Japan’s F-2, which was jointly developed by MHI and Lockheed more than two decades ago. The Defense Ministry plans to start deploying the new jet in 2035, when it begins to retire F-2s.

The ministry has asked for ¥77.2 billion in budget outlays for the project for fiscal 2021, which begins in April.

Japan has said it will announce the names of foreign companies invited to join the project before the end of the year.

Firms that have expressed interest in participating include F-18 Super Hornet builder Boeing Co. and Northrop Grumman Corp. from the United States, as well as Britain’s BAE Systems PLC and Rolls Royce Holdings PLC.

Guys I am genuinely curious about the ThNDR DIRCM. Does the 6 face polygon shape on the EOTS fold in or out on the EOTs during flight? Heard that the F-35s DIRCM was to use the same shape
