Yes that's what u do when project gets no funding and attention from govt
Failure lies with every stakeholder in this case but not inducting a platform where u have invested both time and capital isn't the solution to overcome the failure
Wrong way to reason it out. Many projects result in failures. You cannot succeed without failing. What is important is to fail fast and correct yourself to go on a different path. The issue with DRDO is they don’t fail fast - they keep working on the same path thinking that they can rescue the program even if it takes years and years more. Bad idea. This ability to quickly change directions is well established in the private sector as they cannot afford to waste money, which why the results are not only quicker but many times cheaper. DRDO must work just like a private org - give them limited budgets and tell them to fail fast and move on to something else or try differently. But this would be resisted by the DRDO staff as they are very used to milking 1 project for their whole career. This is why drdo projects take decades as you can go from joining DRDO to retirement with pension on just 1 project. Until this core idea is changed, DRDO will continue to be ineffective in delivering advanced technology quickly and cheaply.

Mass induction is solution for many such capability related issues
Heck forget DRDO
Once the product enters into product then the production partner itself start the process of upgradation with help of development org obviously
That's the only way u can achieve numbers and indigenous capabilities
Licence manufacturing is not the answer for such problems
If I compare Hermes 900 then it's not significant compared to tapas it could have been adjusted by the forces and things will definitely get better in future wrt platform as development never stops in such cases
Infact we don't have any source of performance of Hermes 900 in Indian environment
It's pure case of sabotage and also failure or drdo for not being agressive with it

It's not importing when you order an "Indian drone with indian name dude" #trueatmanirbhar
Infact I also think whap will face same fate
But unlike tapas it has satisfied all the so called sqr of army how will they defend Stryker acquisition I can't understand
May be some accident or blast causing deaths be the option for import lobby

I have another question what will happen to 6 tapas which is in production as it's part of user trails
Will it remain with hal or services
Will they conduct any more trails

Looks like MODI Government has had enough of ADE.. Interview of ADA Ghatak Director before it was transferred to ADE to save ADE face/jobs..
I think the Director was allowed to finally vent his heart out by GOI

A project of national importance was shifted from ADA to a lab that always failed to deliver any product from Nishant to Nirbhay, Rustom-1 to Rustom-2!!! Shameless act.
Looks like GOI has had enough of ADE ch*tiyapa.. and is letting things come out in the open..

He indeed is, and most of the fanboys screaming murder on Army & Chandigarh lobby has absolutely no idea how deep the rot runs into DPSUs.
I don't agree with his assertions most of the times
But his updates are reliable atleast wrt tapas and artillery
