some of old offers from uncle santa sam

just because they are offered, doesn't mean they materialise. infact just because white house offers something, doesn't mean they have clearances from their MIC and their legislature.

But when def sec saying it then it definitely has substance
You would have GDLS screaming from top of their lungs about the Stryker ICV being trialled by the Indian Army across social media.
Also, any such purchase agreements would require US Congress approval, nowhere such a proposal has been tabled.

Honestly, Adding the Stryker means getting WHAP variants booted out after wasting DRDO, TATA and Mahindra time. Whap cleared all the user trials and in fact now active with Army, CAPF. Ideally the big order should be placed and further iteration of Whap design like light artillery, wheeled IFV should start to be tested.

But again this is Indian Defense acquisition and we are not known for proactiveness. Rather we are know for fixing problems when shit hits the storm.

Hope the news is as true as we are selecting F35 for Navy.

Stryker doesn't have Amphibious variant. So I think both will be inducted . WhAp for mech Infantry and Stryker for some fancy EW-anti drone systems.

Although I believe what @karn said that we might be building Stryker not for ourselves but for NATO due to cost effectiveness.

Things we manufacture but don't buy/operate -
  • F-16s (partially)
  • C-130Js (partially)
  • Carl Gustav from SAAB (we use OFB-manufactured ones).
  • Hermes 900 (till now), Hermes 450, and other drones from Elbit.
The point is that we manufacture it, hence we induct it into our forces is not necessary. Or possibly induct it into smaller numbers like Apache. The acquisition of Apache did not affect LCH induction, just supplemented it.

Exactly same case of Hermes
They opened up the plant with adani to carter the needs of South East Asian market but we now we understood why they opened it up
Basically no company or nation will build any sort of plant or manufacturing establishment until the host country doesn't provide market to it
If they produce Stryker in India then better assume it will be inducted into our military

We use c-130j
We use Carl Gustav
We use apache and future order exists
F-16 parts are being produced bcoz they are pitching it in mmrca that's marketing
Most of the things producted are more or being inducted
Coming to Strykers if rather a degraded one compared to whap bcoz of absence of amphibious capabilities and low interest in nato military
Why induct it along with whap when it doesn't serve and category above whap

Hermes is a recent acquisition. Elbit has been making drones (not only the Hermes 900 variant) in the Adani plant for 3+ years, and we are clearly not the market.

This is no argument, we offer cheap manufacturing & good talent why won't they manufacture things in India ? China is too risky (for obvious reasons), EU/NATO countries are good but the manufacturing cost is high, other countries like Vietnam, Mexico, and South Africa also offers good option but are largely unreliable due to volatile political & internal security situation.

  • We use C130 (but we are not buying it anymore).

  • We use Carl Gustav (Try to read perhaps? We domestically manufactured it since the 1980s, we are not going to buy from SAAB, perhaps piecemeal orders for SFs)

  • We use apache and future order exists (Unlikely)

  • F-16 parts (We never promised we will buy F-16s, but we manufacture and export parts)

Yes I understand it is Sunday and you want to do your favorite hobby

Read it once again I said if some nation or company is setting up a factory or plant here then they are assured that they will recieve orders
Elbit setup their facility in 2020 they were assured of orders
Again read it I said whatever is being built here have been procured or will be procured
If we wanna be specific then let it be
When u operate platforms then u need spares parts and other supports for which u definitely need a plant and there were anticipations for further orders of c-130j by iaf and now even mta contest exists
These things are done to make their bid stronger and convince the local govt to place orders
39 apaches were planned 22 has been recieved by iaf 6 by ia and more 11 are remaining
They are coming definitely and moreover we have ordered 28 helis so even they tickthr box
F-16 are being pitched mmrca this makes the case stronger so basically a marketing strategy
Will mmrca be executed ?
Yes for the global companies they will make it happen with their respective personal effort
Coming to gif, if u live in such nation then it's obvious
