For SWiFT,it has already taken it's first flight according to him using NPO Saturn engine.
More SWiFTs are planned and for ghatak kaveri parts are sending and it may see it's first flight soon.
DRDO/ADE is tight lipped about the info,hence very little to gather.
And the flight happened this year only few months back.
Regarding where the flight test happen,he said he can't exactly say but maybe via a runway in oddisha operated by DRDO/ADE.

But according to me
It's flight happened in it chitradurga Aeronautical test range.
In April you would've heard the news that chitradurga's runway has been extended by DRDO to 3.3km,probably for this test only?
And would've done earlier,as open-source based sattelites takes time to provide latest data/imagery

there were multiple indications that SWiFT was heading towards its first flight soon and was initally planned for 2020 but covid situation delayed,hence it was favourable for ade/drdo to test on january-march time framework as covid situation was pretty calm,and CVRDE delivering the landing gears

If it's GaN based then it might just touch 180 km for 1M2. And anything above 150 KM 1M2 for single engine 4th gen fighter is very impressive.

Any range is just speculation,this isn't a new radar,front end is only redesigned,based on GaA technology,the radar has 912 minimum TRMs,the size remains the same as the old one(600mm length and 400mm breadth),however the density has increased...

Not really. Su30 radome has twice the space of Tejas and su30 has twice the engine power already available compared to Tejas.

Which means su30 can easily handle an aesa twice the size of lca. Which is about 1800 trm module giant of an aesa which will make it far more capable than even Rafale aesa. A true giant.

To manufacture the upper and lower layer of the dipole element, they are using substrates and bonding films from Roger Corp, an American company. Hopefully, this is a commercial decision and we have alternate suppliers for this or a functionally similar material. If not then hope that DRDO is atleast working on developing this material in-house.

There was a news that LRDE would deliver first X-Band GaN aesa radar in 2022.
So GaN tech is pretty much ready all requires in testing&certification.
Fabrication is going for now.

no IA doesn’t have these kind of system, but they should start thinking in these lines.

whether IA/MoD wants to buy or not is a different issue, atleast draw up a GSQR and fund the project.

I think such a nice modern system could be a great upgrade to this kind of system what we already have and making the 7.62 MAG an RCWS

Soltam has made something similar for Thailand using a TATA truck. A truck borne system as well as a tracked version may be very useful for the army for use in the deserts of Rajasthan and Ladakh.
