Not just rounds, sub components of these guns are also from foreign OEM which were first time getting involved in by DRDO or BF/ TATA or OFB. So overall testing is not just of the gun, but the concerned sub-components too. We had seen the same happening with Dhanush.
Its the lack of a stringent and strong infra and supply chain which makes IA go on for endless trial. Till now onle PINAKA's ASHP has been handed over by DRDO to DGQA. It simply shows the level of infra available inhouse to support the development of any weapon system. In absence of those, we would have to bear this tenacious testing procedure.

APU, FCS and recoil mechanism (Kalyani) is from foreign vendor.

Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) and Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL) are responsible for design and development of advanced communication and Fire Control System for ATAGS.

All the hardware and software have been designed and developed through indigenous sources. All these communication equipment have been tested with the gun system and has a standoff distance of 5 km as per user’s requirements.

The fire control software for ATAGS including trajectory computation module has been designed, developed and integrated in the tactical computer.

These are small boats and cannot handle the recoil of any of the missiles in our inventory, you may need something on the lines of SPIKE NLOS for these boats.
