Some updates-
1. Uttam is nearing completion and will be ready by June 2021.

2. It's air to air mode has been validated on tejas by using advanced algorithms now only air to ground and air to sea mode validation is left.

3. All the issues related to air to ground mode has been sorted out and radar will be production ready by end of 2021.

4. It will be closely integrated with aircraft RWR and jamming system that's why LRDE and DARE are working together.

4. All the components of radars are indigenous except FPGA and processor.

5. Work is going to integrate upscaled version of uttam on su 30 mki with nearly twice the performance.

6. Planning is also going on to integrate it with mig 29 and 29k.

7. For AMCA preliminary design of the new radar has been completed and it will feature a GaN technology and is expected to produce twice the performance.

8. MWF is likely to be equipped with GaAs based radar and it might be converted to GaN one in near future.

9. Drdo will acquire A319 to act as flying test bed.

Can s

Can someone confirm that we haven't delivered any system to them.
the deal for which was signed only this year. Among the list of destroyed Armenian arsenal, there was no mention of Indian military equipment having been used or destroyed in the country.

It is noteworthy to mention that it had only been five months since the radar deal with India was signed by Armenia, and according to sources, only one unit had been supplied to the country by the Indian defense company, the rest are yet to be shipped.

Even if the delivery was accelerated, the weapons would need to be tested domestically and due training process given to the Armenian armed forces, which takes considerable time.

Is there any chance of Uttam on Tejas mk1a? I know we are looking for some elta radar but considering production for mk1a is supposed to start in 2023 or so, is there any possibility?

It is an ugly world out there. As India starts exporting defence equipment in larger quantities and value the established players will try to deride the performance and quality of our products.

Especially true with our sworn enemies Pakistan and China. We need to have people trained to deal with this information warfare. Target the defence equipment of the culprit nations. I am sure they will have weaknesses.. No equipment can promise and function 100% effectively in all situations. There will always be compromises and trade offs when designing weapons. Example, the JF17 blunder may be cheap compared to aircraft like the F16, Gripen etc but has weaknesses of low payload, range, performance etc. And even against the Tejas it falls short on many aspects.

The reality is that the countries who try to destroy the reputation of our weapons are living in glass houses. Even the US M777 ULH suffers from some drawbacks. So if a superpower cannot produce a 100% satisfactory weapon, what is there to say about countries like Pakistan and China.

Of course when there is a genuine problem with our defence equipment it is our duty to rectify the defect and restore confidence in the buyer.

We failed to defend our ALH Dhruv helicopter in the past. Especially the sale to Equador. Media management is important. Perhaps we fell short in post sale servicing. The latest concept in servicing is Performance Based Logistics.

I hope we have learnt lessons from the setbacks in the Equador deal. If we want to increase defence exports we should be ready to counter the criticism from competitors.
