Indian private sector's investment in Research is minimal compared to their revenue. What can we expect. Bunch of idiots. DRDO, ISRO, DAE doing great job compared to them in terms of actual R&D.
Forget defence, in their own sectors like consumer electronics or engineering, no compaies spend on R&D. It is not in their DNA. Look at biggies like Reliance, Tata etc. Do not blame govt for everything. There are red tapes and they should be removed, true. The main problem with so called ToT is what happened with submarine contracts HDW, Scorpene and now P75I. The list goes on. Now we are even importing AK rilfes under screwdrivergiri.

Why are you comparing companies like TATA & M&M with Boeing and Lockhead. They are not currently and never were on the same level.
