Why are you comparing companies like TATA & M&M with Boeing and Lockhead. They are not currently and never were on the same level.
I know that. Boeing and Lockheed grown big because entire world is their market. They can sell because their products are cutting edge. Their products are cutting edge because they spend money on R&D.

If Tata, Mahindra, etc do not spend a considerable percentage of their revenue than it will be like Tata Harrier/Safari. Where engine if from Fiat, transmission from Hyundai, audio/display from Harman, platform from JLR like we are doing with Tejas. 🤣

So you want them to waste money and design their own ATV when such things are easily available elsewhere ?
The import lobby says same. They did not want India to develop AAD/Ashwin instead buy Patriot/Aster systems. Why develop AMCA, TEDBF, FMBT when imports are available?

I hope US, France, UK, Russia and China think same as you say, than there will be no weapon to fight, as everyone will expect others to develop for them. We will live in a peaceful world. :pound:

Why would they they want to waste money of simple things like an ATV. How much is the requirement for such things in the military and civilian space ? How can you compare a Missile Defence system with an ATV ? :crazy:

If ATV is so simple why can not they develop their own? Why become dependent on another country? Missile defence was an example as there were hard sell for PAC-3 to India decade back. Import lobby used same logic.

T-14 Armata's A-85/2V12-3A (Chelyabinsk 12N360) engine. 34.6 liter, Twin Turbo, X-12. 2000hp, 4000N.m torque, redline at 2500 rpm. Dry-sump lubrication with multiple fuel pumps and a 16 speed automatic gearbox. 2000 hours of estimated engine life at 2000hp output, upto 10,000 hours at 1000hp output. Standard tune is set to 1500hp. Fuel economy is 85-100 gallons per hour depending on the tune. The engine itself has a dry weight of 1497 kg.

PAC-3 is a BMD like AAD.
No, its more like lite AAD/AD1 with next gen tech with advanced interception capability against multiple target, and part of normal SAM systems with increased capability against ballistic missile. PAC3 similar to S400.

here so called with so many auto firms.. cvrde is still struggling with 1500 hp engine.

Agreed! Look at the history of those auto firms. Tata recenlt started development of a current generation TGDi engine. Mahindra os ahead of Tata here.

1500 HP engine should have been 50-50 public private partnership. Not sure if it is already.

Thing is Tata,Kirloskar and Mahindra have been manufacturing Engines. But when the question came of producing heavy tipper engines - Both relied on benz/cummins/navstar. I am afraid only CVRDE has competence which could undertake 1500hp engine development among Indian companies. In 2020 we heard prototype was complete with some hot run tests. We haven't heard anything new about its status as of yet.

As per @Chinmoy 1500HP was realized, they were developing 1800HP as anticipate mission creep way back in 2021. Given now Armata has compact 2000 HP engine. I guess another project shall now be needed to up rating from 1800HP to 2000 HP.. if cvrde does not want army to fail their project again in favor of russian.

What is Tata Motors, L&T's revenue to R&D % compared to BMW, Lockheed. Tata Motors spend even less % than JLR! How much Reliance, Mahindea etc spend? Much less. Most of the Indian comlanies just started inceeasing R&D spending recently.

One of the reason why DRDO, ISRO etc falls shorts of expectation is lacl of support from industry. Why NASA, DARPA gets everything done by Lockheed , Boeing, Raytheon and many other MSMEs.
Dude really? you are comparing Tata Motors with BMW? Do you know BMW gets grants from European Goverments to do research? If goverments fund Tata there will riots on the street. Comparing Apples and Oranges is easy.

Tata motors have come leaps and bounds after buying JLR, was it not an investment? Why reinvent the wheel when you can buy one?

If you talk about Lockeed martin, read about the grants that is provided by the US goverment for research, It is in BILLIONS per year with sure shot orders unlike us where the product gets stuck in procurment cycle till eternity. US goverment actively pressurise other countries to buy stuff built by US MIC what do we do? We ourselves dont buy even a screwderivered stuff instead buy videshi maal. Then Why would anyone put money on R&D.
