Guys you all just ignored this statement. AMCA 1st prototype by February 2024.

While talking about HAL's Advance Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Project. The HAL Chief stated. "We are also design partners in building prototypes in this project. In another five to six years the product should be available. The exact time frame is starting from February 2024. We are confident we will be able to deliver first aircraft in February 2024."

But AMCA still hasn't got CCS approval. Seem like it could be available before Tejas Mk2.
Yea sure, just like this bigmouth claimed Tejas Mk2 would roll out in 2022.

Front glacis of (80+105+20)mm becomes almost 600mm at 68° angle. DRDO's new ERA claims a reduction in penetration of more than 50% for HEAT type warhead and 30% for KE type. All modern ATGMs like Stugna-P or Kornet-E or Akeron claims a penetration of more than 1200mm RHA. So even after a reduction of 50% you get penetration of almost the same as armour thickness.

But here's something more interesting; glacis is the thickest armour on a tank designed to take hit. Every other armour on a tank is thinner than its glacis.

There is absolute zero sense of urgency at DRDO, HAL, MOD, and most of all, the IAF!!!
Delivery of first SP aircraft 3 years from the date of contract signing is the standard world over, there are a thounsand different vendors and subsuppliers to deal with over here.
Never seen people crib about the delivery of the first Rafales in 2019 when infact the contract was signed in 2016

Realistically even much lighter ATGMs can pen around 800mm with also being tandem HEAT. So, at best you can protect your frontal arc of Tank from an ATGM attack at best and even a simple rpg can easily take out a tank from side like pg7vl or HEAT 751 rockets even if it is protected by ERA.
I guess the fitment on T72 was done for test purposes, sooner or later we have to phase them out, they are just too vulnerable at this point, even to make them viable will need a very heavy upgrade to the level of atleast T72B3M.
