In the same link, if we do look at the MArG-ER below,

The 18 tons you are talking about is ULH steel mounted on a 4*4 vehicle . Its weight of the whole system including the vehicle . This oneIn the same link, if we do look at the MArG-ER below,

The first point and third point contradicts each other. Now lets have a look at the specification of MArG.
About MArG 155 – BR:
https://forceindia.net/defence-minister-unveils-indigenous-multi-terrain-artillery-gun-marg-155-br/
- Only 155mm 39 caliber gun system mounted on 4×4 HMV in the world
- Gradient negotiation: 30 (go anywhere gun)
- Shoot and scoot capability
- All up weight: 18 ton
- Capable of firing complete NATO standard and in service ammunition
- On board ammunition carrying capacity: 18 rounds with Zone 5
- Coming into action time: 1.5 minute in day and 2 minute in night
Now a 52 caliber MArG would be no way lighter then a 18 ton 39 caliber system. And I don't believe 18ton system could be addressed as a ULH in any way.
Gun is the whole system. Now even if we subtract the Vehicle weight, just the gun weighs around 8 to 9 tons. Now should we consider a a FH77 class gun to be ULH?The 18 tons you are talking about is ULH steel mounted on a 4*4 vehicle . Its weight of the whole system including the vehicle . This one

Artillery itself weighs very less . ULH steel version weighs 6.8 tons and ULH titanium weighs 4.8 tons .
Atags weighs 18 tons . If you believe kalyani towed ulh is 18 tons i have nothing to say .Gun is the whole system. Now even if we subtract the Vehicle weight, just the gun weighs around 8 to 9 tons. Now should we consider a a FH77 class gun to be ULH?
This whole conversion looks like a Indian Army RFP drafting committee conversion . Whatever you may call the Kalyani Gun the fact that they got an export order is monumental and blot on the procurement mechanism of MOD .Gun is the whole system. Now even if we subtract the Vehicle weight, just the gun weighs around 8 to 9 tons. Now should we consider a a FH77 class gun to be ULH?
Read again. I have quoted the the 18 ton weight for MArG-BR which is 39 cal gun. So in that case even the 39 caliber gun along weighs 8 tons. This is understandable as its a steel version. Now I am asking how a 8 ton gun qualifies for ULH category. Why are you comparing a truck mounted system with towed system ? Both are different .
How do you know the weight of the vehicle ? And doing substraction . We dnt know the systems in place there along with truck . And how a ulh is being compared to 11/12 ton artillery ?
The official weight is 4.8 tons for titanium and 6.8 tons for steel . M777 weighs 4.2 tons .
On that, I am still waiting their official confirmation. This whole conversion looks like a Indian Army RFP drafting committee conversion . Whatever you may call the Kalyani Gun the fact that they got an export order is monumental and blot on the procurement mechanism of MOD .

Lmao so much confusion here.View attachment 181258
This is the one you talking about. Just read the specs again. There is a lot in what gets advertised and what is there on ground.
That is what I am saying. MArG-ER is basically a striped down Haubits in all practical sense. Terming it ULH doesn't make it ULH.Lmao so much confusion here.
Let me explain.
The figures of 5 ton and 6 ton are for 155x39howitzer.
I would guess the weight for the 52 caliber to be 8 ton and 10 ton for titanium/steel.
Chinook max lift is around 9 tons for high altitudes, so it would be questionable if these "mountain guns" could even be moved with adequate ammo around mountains.... AFAIK even Kalyani is touting it as towed arty primarily.
If it is towed, might as well bump up the weight a bit, reduce the cost and go for ATAGS with much higher capability.
Specific titanium version of MarG of weight less than 5 tons is considered ULH, that much is clear. Now do variations in it using steel construction or put a 52 cal barrel on it or mount it on a truck, weight will change accordingly, duh!Gun is the whole system. Now even if we subtract the Vehicle weight, just the gun weighs around 8 to 9 tons. Now should we consider a a FH77 class gun to be ULH?
Yep, this is the only good use of something like this. Make a 6x6 truck mounted arty instead of the 8x8 that atags needs, with comparable firepower at less weight in exchange for a bit of firing rate.Specific titanium version of MarG of weight less than 5 tons is considered ULH, that much is clear. Main point being that Kalayni MarG comes with hybrid soft recoil system thereby reducing the weight when compared to similiar guns of same type like M198 howitzer. I bet throw some money and army can probably make a lightweight 52cal truck mounted artillery weighing less than 20 tons.

I wonder why the weight of Titanium comes down to 4 tons only in media or SM and not in official versions? Do they need to invest a bit more on their official brochure?
BTW, even MArG-ER too is also missing from official brochure.
Agreed. But why it is not mentioned in official brochure? Kalyani is a private company and I believe babudom has not creeped into their PR department.
