Gen. MM Naravane, Chief of Army Staff, was presented the Indigenous Rajak Ultra Long Range Observation System by the TASL Team. The product designed & manufactured by TASL can detect a human target up to 18km and a vehicle up to 26km, both during day & night.
Is this the same one DRDO LOROS/BOSS system for long range surveillance.

And is never held accountable for inordinate delays, whereas Pvt guys are screwed even though they're new to the game whereas drdo has been doing this for last 50yrs and should actually be held to a higher standard
Do you know this or just assuming?

Anyways what's stopping private companies from doing R&D if they're so good? Reality is most private companies are incapable of cutting edge defence R&D. India's biggest car maker Tata can't make a 2 litre 4 pot diesel engine or an automatic transmission for their flagship SUV and you expect thess guys to magically make defence products?

My point is that DRDO has done almost everything with the minuscule budget they are given and private companies are not some divine entities that you're believing.

Goddamned MNREGA scheme
DRDO employees are recruited through a proper competitive exam and interview. Most people here (including you) are incapable of qualifying that exam. So don't badmouth the scientists when you yourself can't do anything.

There must be some reason that China went so much ahead of us despite gaining Independence almost together.
They stole most of the technologies from Soviet Union after its fall and now even from US.

People here don't seem to understand that western countries have spent hundreds of billions of dollars on developing all their technologies, and we require similar amounts to make similar indigenous technology. We have 2 options:
  1. We steal from them and reverse engineer (like China)
  2. We pay western companies for ToT for non critical/obsolete tech and then reinvent everything critical.
Right now we're doing the second and that too with very little funding (we're a socialist, welfare state). So it's natural everything's delayed. No magic private company can change this.

The only way to develop cutting edge defence tech is to steal from the west to gain parity (like US stole from Germany after ww2).

My question is to everyone
Why did our forces inducted whap with degraded capability like no amphibious role 😒
What's there strategy behind it, why not with amphibious capability
Will they order whap with amphibious capability later
Galwan woke up our sleeping gernails and forced them to buy what was available at the moment instead of doing endless trials. Sometimes I think chinka and porkie are blessings in disguise, else we would still have a 70s army !

BTW can anyone tell me what firepower does whap/ipmv have ? And how many personnel it can carry ?
