DRDO doesn't has the capability to absorb the cutting edge cream layer talents in India. They always go out of the country. When they come back, or think of coming back they don't get the amount of freedom and facilities which they are getting while being abroad. DRDO always try to reinvent the wheel and always try to follow a already secure research pathway. Also, the government doesn't fund them, the DRDO Government combo is no better than private companies. Although few companies do cutting edge developments. They were not permitted to participate in defence R and D until Mudi came.

Do you know this or just assuming?

Anyways what's stopping private companies from doing R&D if they're so good? Reality is most private companies are incapable of cutting edge defence R&D. India's biggest car maker Tata can't make a 2 litre 4 pot diesel engine or an automatic transmission for their flagship SUV and you expect thess guys to magically make defence products?

My point is that DRDO has done almost everything with the minuscule budget they are given and private companies are not some divine entities that you're believing.

DRDO employees are recruited through a proper competitive exam and interview. Most people here (including you) are incapable of qualifying that exam. So don't badmouth the scientists when you yourself can't do anything.

Indian Navy working with HAL to develop 50 UH (Marine) choppers for warship requirements

In what could be a major boost for Make in India in defence, the Indian Navy and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited are looking at developing a new Utility Helicopter (Marine) to meet the warship requirements of the force.

If the development of the new variant of the Advanced Light Helicopter Dhruv is done successfully, the Indian Navy would be looking at placing orders for 50 of these choppers which would help the Indian Navy to deploy choppers on its warships on high seas, the government sources told news agency ANI.
