Wait really??

How did we even plan to do this? Is there more on the topic i really would like to know.
I do not have the sources anymore but on another forum about 8-9 years ago while Ray was alive, another poster who was still in the Indian Army posted a gem of a nugget which was a picture of his father or uncle's marching orders to prepare 2 para regiments along with a med company. They were waiting for the go ahead orders by IG. They were locked and loaded and ready to go at any given moment. Then after the war ended they were ordered to stand down.

We need to stop this obsession of taking over Diego Garcia from the US/UK. India is not an expantionist power like China which tries to make claims on land which historically have never belonged to it.
it will be far better to take a big chunk of land on moon.

cause in the end it will also get divided in to different nations:dude:
(Lol). Take a chunk of the moon?

Well for something like that to happen, we will need to have a new space race to come about so that Nations such Russia/China/US/India etc which are some of the leading Countries in terms of space exploration will race with one another to develop Technology to make a bigger presence on the moon 1st.

space race will start in second half of this decade.

as the iss goes down, us, russia will make their own stations. US had already planned for a small space station orbiting moon. but they had cancelled it, who knows they might revive it also
it is not very far.

although it was idea like iss but they (us + eu + japs) can do it easily

It's true we aren't an expansionist power our naval ability is not that great when compared with USA, and USA is currently a partner.

We must leave the scenarios open for a potential taking of those islands.

We already think of scenarios where RIC block develops or US becomes too petty or paranoid about a rising india, or even scenarios where indian economy gets bigger than US.

The other scenarios of US having a financial crisis because of de dollarisation, and retreating from the world is also plausible.

In those above scenarios taking Diego Garcia becomes critical for us.

Having said that, all of those scenarios will , if at all, happen in the next half of this century.
So any predictions, analysis and simulations we do are limited in its use.

But we must do so anyway to gauge our capabilities vs a the naval power.
(Will be useful if china squats in sri lanka.)

This was already discussed by this armchair general but the target is UK.
It's not realistic and ignores many assets india has like air launched brahmos.

sorry if I am going off-topic but Do you have link of a thread or Forum section in which I can discuss about planets, stars, galaxies and other celestrial objects etc (Basically everything related to astronomy and the universe).

I have lots of ideas in my mind which I would like to convey on Astronomy related topics. (I.e how we can colonise Mars or how we can mine asteroids etc)

Thank you in advance!

Something for Bharat to be wary of. China is coming into Indian Ocean. Seems like (not unexpectedly) there is a Chinese hand in the Chagos Islands (and Diego Garcia Island) tug-of-war. This is why India shouldn't have an attitude of sitting back - others are being proactive.

China has long been extending its own sphere of influence in crucial trade routes through the South China Sea. Now Beijing is looking to secure its long-range routes through the Indian Ocean to the oil of the Middle East. By placing their own navy and bases in the region, their global trade will be more secure.

The U.S. fears that China might build a military base in the Chagos Archipelago once the islands have been returned to Mauritian control. One version of this argument is that Mauritius intends to eject the U.S. from Diego Garcia and invite China to fill its place. Another version is that China might militarize one of the other islands of the Chagos group. This all means that Mauritius could find itself at the centre of an aggressive bidding war between Washington and Beijing over the Chagos Islands.

Many Mauritians are of Chinese heritage, having arrived on the island between the 17th and 19th centuries, and Beijing hopes to play on their patriotic nostalgia.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ocean nation is working to attract Chinese tourists, historically a major market for the country, following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Tourism is the third pillar of the country’s economy, accounting for eight per cent percent of the nation’s gross national product in 2022.

“The reopening of the Chinese borders will give a new glimpse of hope to the tourism industry,” asserted Arvind Bundhun, the director of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority in April. “We are glad and ready to welcome Chinese tourists to Mauritius.”

Sino-Mauritians are heavily active in various spheres, from textiles to real estate to retail; their cultural footprint can be seen around the island in the form of traditional pagodas, active cultural associations, and the vibrant Chinatown in the capital, Port Louis.

A Free Trade Agreement between Mauritius and China was signed in 2019 and entered into force on Jan. 1, 2021, the first that China has signed with a country in Africa. It will give Mauritius access to a huge market of some 1.4 billion inhabitants.
Also Boris Johnson article today lamenting UK leftists supporting the return of Chagos Islands to Mauritius (China).
