FFS, it’s hard not to go along with the narrative that photoshoots are more important than action with Modi sometimes. What’s there to ‘unveil’? Why can’t he get the services to actually place orders then take all the pics you like.

the same thing happened with LCH where modi had some sort of ceremony with it in 2021 but it wasn’t actually ordered until early 2022 and deliveries ongoing now.

Not a big deal, this is predominant in Auto sector, good weld robots have good finish with negligible splatters but sometimes where finish does not matter (cost cutting) you will find this type of finish. Just check the silencer weld for a commuter bike like TVS, Hero to a Triumph. You will see the finish much better in Triumph compared to others. There is no issue with weld strength.

System does not change in couple of years to come out of 70 years of rot....there will be some success and failures and attempts to sabotage but its better than doing nothing or ripping out entire system at once. Doing so brings chaos most of the times.

A politician has no way way to know what is futuristic or not unless he is guided by a professional. It is the failure of the professionals. Not everyone can be as technically adept as Manohar Parikar.

Everyone was jumping up and down about increase in private sector participation in defence industry. Just watch what a load of BS L&T produced after getting funding from the govt!

The Govt needs to appoint someone with a vision to oversee all these projects. It is not that DRDO is incompetent. But, it is obvious that DRDO doesn't take these armour segment much seriously. I won't blame them either after how the IA Generals have let down their projects like Arjun and Abhay. After all, DRDO may not have talent pool to waste around catering to whims and fancies of GSQR thought up by IA every fortnight.

No I agree with this. For once the politician is not to blame so much here, it’s the babus and uniformed professionals that should be ashamed of themselves.

look at the number of generals standing around in that picture who were present at this debacle, they are meant to be subject matter experts but seem to think it’s okay to bring this to defence minister of India to sign off on? Similarly the defence secretary is meant to have some knowledge.

this is what is so enraging about the entire thing- it reveals how deep the rot is, either through malice or sheer incompetence these jokers are not prepared for anything.
