The simple fact is that China still has capability gaps that must be filled in by Russian imports.
China has not imported anything worth mentioning from Russia the past couple years, nor has China signed any major new deals with Russia either. This tells you something about the current capabilities of China's arms industries.

Only the first batch of J11B use AL-31F, all follow-on batches as well as J15 use WS10.

i'm quite sure that our indian friends will be selectively blind to these pics.they avert to see PLA's ability on R&D and capture their attention on the word "copy".they dont even realize that COPY is past tense.they choose late 90s china as an opponent.they still think china's fighters r not much better than Su-27SK.

Russia isn't going to sell "one or two of them." They are going to make them buy at least 40 and pay upfront.
In that case, it won't happen. China turns down Russia's offer to co-develop T50, which encompasses the best of Russian aviation, and you expect China to accept Su35?

can chines member guarantee that not sngle unit of s400 or SU 35 would be purchases by them in future.
I can't guarantee that, on the contrary, if Russians are willing to sell one or two units, I think we will accept that offer.

J10 does use AL31, although the newest prototype of the so-called B-model is flyinf with WS10. As China/Liming Coporation currently does not have enough capacity to produce WS10 for both J11B and J10, the focus right now is J11B with regard to WS10 production.

No one knows which engine J20 uses, could be AL31, a modied AL31, WS10, modified WS10 or even next generation engine WS15. Unless you work for Chengdu aircraft coporation and have inside information, you better not jump the gun here.

Reverting back to your own country mens sources China has imported the S400. All the J10, J11 and whatever are all Su27's.
PLA's ability on R&D has never been doubted, although I doubt PLA develops the aircraffts :confused2: must be some other institute in China.
There is a famous proverb doing rounds research = ctrl+C and ctrl+V.

One could on the same grounds argue that the Su30 MKI which has produced from ground up in India has French and Isreali components. So can we call it Russo-French-Isreali aircraft ?

actually it is other way round, because of Chines making illegal copies of the Russian weapons system, Russia has refused to sell its weapons to China, Now in future Russians learning from past experience would sell such weapons which would be very hard to copy by Chines.

The Chinese party has shown interest in acquisition of a number of Su-35 jets and submitted a proposal to us in 2011. At present this problem is being elaborated by the designated institution of Russia", - said the First Deputy Director General of Federal Service of Military-Technical Cooperation, Alexander Fomin
You could have brushed the reports off as bad reporting if it had not been for this statement.

The name is too big for it to be ignored. We will see what China is thinking soon enough.

I'll say it again, WHY WOULD YOU BUY THE S400 WHEN YOU ALREADY OPERATE IT? As for the Su35, I sincerely doubt the PLAAF wants it. Why would they want another flanker variant of which they already operate several?
J20, don't you still undestand, Indian will never fear Chinese stuff, even you say Chinese have better than Su35. they fear we get 1000 Su35 (we have enough money) and beat their 200 Franch planes and make better friends with Russia, and Russia will let us know all Indian stuff, such as Bulamos, bla, bla.
and then China will take south Tibet. well, money in hand, that always is option.

Earlier one of your friends said this if you remember

The HQ19 is a sino-russian joint project to produce a Chinese version of the S400:
[\quote]

I fail to see how that isn't a co-development.

Also regarding the J11 BS case, althought I appreciate the effort that you make it yourselves. Practically it is a Su 27, when it has a Su 27 body, Su 27 engine, IRST. And I fail to see why you don't agree it isn't a Su27.
I'm sorry, but wasn't that post reffering to this comment by you:
So you agree that China has given money to Russia to develop J11,J12,J11/12BS,J16 silent $hit or whatever it is.
I dont see you mentioning the HQ19/S400 there...

China's military build-up seen independent of U.S. moves

China's military build-up seen independent of U.S. moves - wtvr

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - China's military build-up looks likely to continue "unabated" and independent of recent U.S. moves to reposition forces in Asia, the U.S. military commander for the Asia-Pacific region said on Tuesday.

Admiral Robert Willard, head of U.S. Pacific Command, said Washington's policy of rebalancing toward the Asia-Pacific region has drawn China's attention since it was unveiled last year, but did not drive Beijing's build-up.

"We've not seen Chinese military growth affected by the announcement, nor do we expect it to be. It has continued relatively unabated," Willard told the Senate Armed Services Committee.

"They continue to advance their capabilities and capacities in all areas," he said at a hearing, days before China is expected to unveil its 2012 military budget at the annual meeting of China's parliament in Beijing.

Under a strategy designed to reposition forces eastward after a decade of war in Afghanistan and Iraq, Washington will keep large bases in Japan and South Korea, deploy up to 2,500 U.S. Marines in Australia and step up military cooperation with the Philippines.

Willard, referring to Chinese perceptions of U.S. policy, said: "I think they see themselves in that statement ... and will continue to observe very closely for the actions the United States takes to back up those words."

China has recorded a run of double-digit increases in the People's Liberation Army budget over the past two decades.

Last year, Beijing said it would increase military spending to 601.1 billion yuan ($95.43 billion) in 2011, a 12.7 percent rise on the previous year, resuming double-digit growth after a dip to 7.5 percent growth in 2010.

MILITARY DIPLOMACY LAGS

China is "growing bolder with regard to their expanded regional and global presence, and China continues to challenge the United States and our partners in the region in the maritime, cyber and space domains," said Willard.

He repeated a long-standing Pentagon lament that U.S.-China military-to-military relations are "not where we want them to be," despite high-level pledges to deepen those ties.

Military-to-military relations lagged as a result of differences over the purpose of such exchanges; China's tendency to suspend military contacts following U.S. arms sales to Taiwan; and Beijing's policy of linking American defense policies and demanding concessions before ties can advance, Willard said in written testimony to the Senate panel.

"Nonetheless, we remain committed to evolving this security relationship with the objective of coexisting peacefully and both contributing constructively to regional security," he said.

In contrast to China's wary view of the U.S. rebalancing to the Asia-Pacific region, the Pentagon sees "encouragement that has come from ... virtually all the actors in the region, with regard to their desire for U.S. staying power and influence in the region," said Willard.

"I don't think it's just about China," he said of China's neighbors who have encouraged the U.S. rebalancing.

Several countries, such as Vietnam and the Philippines, are locked in thorny maritime territorial disputes with China over the South China Sea. They have sought the support of Washington, which says it is neutral on the territorial row but concerned about freedom of navigation the region's critical sea lanes.

Could this be the DF-41 or one of other DF series (DF-25、DF-26、DF-27)under development、near completion?

The DF-41 is considerably larger。

This could be the new advanced 4000km mid-range ballistic missile, one among several types of strategic missiles that will be made operational before 2015.
