PLAN is transferring land based units to the PLAAF. PLANAF has traditionally had a massive air force on land including heavy bombers and twin-engined fighter bombers. But it is giving up all of those aircraft and bases for a purely sea-based force.

For the Navy to need to give this up, their carrier force must be expected to be huge!!! Many are projecting up to a 10 carrier force!

Chinese military exercises "Single Sword" started near the island of Taiwan. Chinese exercises around Taiwan are aimed at testing the readiness of the Air Force to gain air superiority over the Taiwan Strait and control over the island. Also, task forces of the Chinese Navy organized combat patrols around Taiwan, simulating a circular blockade of the island. As part of the Joint Sword exercise, a computer-animated video simulating a Chinese missile attack was shown. All types of Chinese troops are used in the exercises. On April 9, 31 aircraft and 9 ships of the Chinese army crossed the "middle line" of the Taiwan Strait, or have already entered the southwestern part of the Taiwan Air Defense Identification Zone, the Taiwan Ministry of Defense said. China's "Joint Sword" exercise around Taiwan, organized by the Eastern Command of the People's Liberation Army of China, will last until April 10. J-10, J-11, J-16 and Su-30 fighters, H-6K strategic bombers, Y-8, Y-9 and Y-20AR transport aircraft, KJ-500 early warning and control aircraft are used in the exercises. As well as marine and land equipment.

Dalian shipyard has been accepting bids for nuclear components.

Dalian shipyard has started bids for nuclear components.

But the shipyard in Shanghai building the Type 003 (CV-18) is releasing renderings of CVN 20!

The implication is that there is a possibility of two nuclear carriers being built in Dalian and Shanghai.

The question is what of Pennant #19. If Shanghai is build #20 then would the nuclear carrier in Dalian be #19? Or would they fit in another conventional carrier like CV-18 before the CVNs as CV-19?

Atleast u guys are lucky that u got such founder's of the nation
That u guys can see that development in one part of your life
In our case things start when person is young and when it gets completed that too half cooked that person would be on deathbed
Who cares neither bureaucrats nor politicians nor workers

Our parents saw even faster developments in the 1980s and 1990s in society and industry, things like ships and planes are just projects built on top of the foundation that the previous generation saw.

In this case, we should see Type 003 with J-35, KJ-600 and J-15Bs in this decade and maybe the Type 004 CVN by the end of it. The PLAN is giving up its big land-based air force to the PLAAF so we know it is planning a very big air arm at sea to replace it :)

This is bound to happen due to induction of sheer no of aircrafts by plaaf
Yes, and those numbers will pick even more with the introduction of new engines, new manufacturing techniques modernized by the WS-10 and the upcoming WS-15, WS-20 and WS-19 and introduction of pulse production lines.

On Taiwan, there also is the new normal of Chinese aircraft and ships patrolling all around Taiwan all the time. Air dominance is being practiced even during peace time.

Rarely talked about is the fact that China has a fleet of airborne radar aircraft that not only dwarfs the US fleet now but has a mass production element that will see even more coming online!

While the rapid pace of developments across China’s military aerospace domain has been widely reported, the focus has typically been weighted toward fighter jetsand, to a lesser extent, bombers. But with China having increasingly embraced the tenets of modern airpower, airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) platforms now play a critical and remarkably expansive role within its air force and navy. A sometimes-complex development path has led to a range of different in-service solutions for this mission. The fact that China's AEW&C fleet dwarfs that of the U.S. and is far younger in age is also a major factor to consider and underlines China's unique strategic mindset. With all that in mind, an in-depth survey of the Chinese military’s AEW&C capabilities is long-overdue.
