why does indian govt insist on reporting everything, there are some things that don't need to be known to the public such as this. Where your enemy is then given time to counter it or change their strategy.
Media has reported the Chinese incursions very aggressively. So these actions are made known to media to convince the people that GOI is not sitting on their bums idlely after all.

But whether these moves are enough is a different question completely.

China has no counter for Brahmos or Su-30MKI. By announcing it, India is telling PROC that they will not be pushed around. It may very well prevent a war.

Country flag
This stop the war for some extent and agressiveness
basically this is what China wanted to see the reactions of India,
so they kept on Intrusions and wanted to see, what can India do,

I agree with you entirely. When it comes to Indian Military policy, I do not know if they understand the meaning of the term classified. I think their next statement will be, bramhos missile is stationed at the following address Old No 123, New No 23 Jackaz Rd, Ladhak, J&K, India.

Wont a statement like, "All necessary precautions to prevent any misadventure has been ensured" suffice?

BrahMos to be deployed in Ladakh

In a bid to deter China and bolster India’s defence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), India has plans to have BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. These missiles have a range of 300 km and in case of a Chinese offensive, would be able to hit tactical and strategic targets in Tibet. They would be able to fly over the mountains and hit targets and are very fast and almost impossible to counter. BrahMos is a two-stage missile. It is nine metres tall and weighs 3.9 tonnes with the canister. It can be launched from ships, silos and road and rail mobile launchers.

It has a strike range of 290 km and can carry a conventional warhead weighing 300 kg. This is apart from the plans to have tanks in Ladakh, also more choppers, infantry and more troops. The area has been found to be level, being a plateau, and tanks can be used there. The idea is to build a counter offensive capacity. Also, troops outside Kashmir will be earmarked for Ladakh, if necessary. The BrahMos project is a joint venture between Defence Research and Development Organisation and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroeyenia who have together formed the BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited.

The supersonic missile travels at the speed of Mach 2.5 to 2.8 and is the world’s fastest cruise missile. It is about three-and-a-half times faster than the subsonic Harpoon cruise missile of the United States. BrahMos claims to have the capability of attacking surface targets as low as 10 meters in altitude. It can gain a speed of Mach 2.8, and has a maximum range of 290 km. The ship-launched and land-based missiles can carry a 200-kilogram warhead, whereas the aircraft-launched variant can carry a 300-kilogram warhead.

NEW DELHI, Oct 11 – To add more teeth to the country’s underwater weapons delivery capabilities, India is planning to test-fire the 290-km range BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from an undersea platform off the coast of Orissa soon. The test-firing is planned to be carried out in mid-December and will prove the Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos cruise missile’s capability to be fired from submarines, Defence Ministry sources told PTI here.

Looks like it was hit with an artillery shell. A 30ft subsonic LACM would be able to be seen in slow motion and I didn't see a thing. Even the Brahmos hits at Mach 2.8 show more than that.
Well, probably you are right. But, there is no point speculating if Pakistani/Chinese cruise missiles are efficient or not. It is safe to assume they are.

I think it is safe to assume they are based on the original guidance of Kh-55 imported from Ukraine. That CEP was around 150m and considering reverse engineering is probably around 200m. If you notice most of the headline for Babur are "nuklear missile" that is what they both are probably designed for. China has yet to develop pinpoint accurate missiles unless they are radar guided like picking out a ship or an open single target. Even that target in the video was a huge buillding out in the middle of the desert. It could use simple radar guidance like used in naval cruise missiles which make it worthless for inland targets.

Impressive Brahmos carrier attack capability detailed

October 19, 2009, (Sawf News) - Russia's Pravda has claimed an impressive salvo fire and intelligent coordinated attack capability for the Brahmos missile.

The capability allows a missile salvo to intelligently takeout multiple ships from within a formation, such as a aircraft carrier group.

Missiles fired in a salvo stagger their attack and automatically reassign themselves new targets if the primary target, say an aircraft carrier is destroyed.

Here is the capability in Pravda's words.

The missiles are so clever that they not only detect a target but develop a plan of attack based on the enemy's air defense. They know exactly which target is the primary one, which of them is an attacker and which is a defender. When the main target is destroyed, they re-prioritize and continue with the attack. Now even more advanced missile is on the way.

News is confusing. Does it means the missile can be fired only when plane is at mac 1.5?

Air-launched BrahMos to be test-fired in Dec 2010

The air-launched version, they said, will be lighter and smaller than the land-based version of the missile so that it can be fitted to the aircraft.

One of the two speed boosters in the missile has been removed for the air version of the weapon system as after being launched from an aircraft moving at a speed of more than 1.5 mach, the missile will automatically gain its momentum and maintain its speed of 2.

i guess it is min 1.5 mach or more.
seems logical because of the removal of a booster is compensated by the aircraft's KE in motion.

that is a good find nitesh. have always wondered about it.
I am trying to explin it sir. The point here is we must keep the definition of speed & velocity in mind to understand this part.Let me explain from the begening. The suface to surface, sea to sea , sea to surface missiles need some extra bit of speed to to make it equally effective when compared to its air to sea/surface counterpart. ITs because air launch version follow a much straighter flight path compared to the sea and surface launched one.So even though surface launch versions do have a greater speed its actually approach velocity toward the target is considerably low.Now for brahmos, when launched from jets will require less than standered 2.8 machs.when all the standered fighter jets is suppose to have more than 1.5 machs in a situation when a stand off weapon has to be used there is absolutely no need to hv a booster which can accelarate the missile from 0 velocity to 2.8 machs because otherwise the missile will be gaining 1.5+2.8 =4.3 mach and will completely spoil its accuracy.

Tomahawk was designed a TLACM while Brahmos was designed as an AShM and then converted to LACM, so don't know where you got this "yankee counterpart" BS.
You can compare apples and oranges if your want, but please refrain from fanboyism.

Tomahawk - Weight 1,440 kilograms (3,200 lb)
Brahmos - Weight 3000 kg

Tomahawk - Length Without booster: 5.56 m, With booster: 6.25 m
Brahmos - Length 8.4 m

Tomahawk - Operational range 2,500km
Brahmos - Operational range 290km

Tomahawk - Warhead 1000lb, including nuclear
Brahmos - Warhead 300kg AP

Tomahawk - Subsonic
Brahmos - 2.8M
