ELTA/IAI SIGINT aircraft programmes (Israel), Intelligence systems - Signals intelligence

Description
ELTA, working with the elements of its parent company Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), has made something of a speciality of producing tactical and strategic SIGINT aircraft, usually converted from existing transport airframes, for a range of customers around the world. Most recently, this work has been expanded to include airborne early warning in the form of the Phalcon system.

Status
The ELTA/IAI combine is understood to have supplied Argentina (L-188 WAVE aircraft - see separate entry), Chile (ELINT and COMINT subsystems for the Phalcon/Condor airborne early warning and surveillance aircraft - see separate entry), Spain (SCAPA Boeing 707 aircraft - see separate entry) and Thailand (three SIGINT-configured Arava aircraft operated by the Thai Air Force's No 402 Squadron based at Nakhom Sawan/Takhli) with either complete SIGINT system/aircraft packages, SIGINT subsystems and/or SIGINT system integration services. In March 2004 it was announced that IAI had been awarded a (then) USD1.1 billion contract by India for three IL-76 AEW/SIGINT aircraft. The Phalcon electronic mission system will include an L-band active phased array radar mounted on a stationary radome developed by Raytheon Airborne Systems, electronic intelligence systems and communications equipment. The aircraft mission will include tactical surveillance of airborne targets and ELINT collection. Delivery of the first platform was originally expected in December 2007, but in November 2007 it was revealed that this would be delayed until September 2008, with the remaining platforms delayed to April 2009 and August 2010 respectively. The aircraft will eventually be based at Bareilly (250 km north New Delhi).

China's effort to build its own AWACS had a set back when a KJ-2000 plane crashed killeng all 40 passengers (among them where many important technicians associated with the project.)

India had similar disaster in 1999. But about getting Phalcon....India is lucky.

Looks like pakistani AWACS will have to stay as far as 400km from our border with there Erieye AEW&C. While our Phalcon AWAC can detect there saab 2000 from 550km from them. Erieye AEW&C lurks any where near the detection range of Phalcon. We caould launch KS-172 from the Buk-M surface-to-air missile once we get them inducted. Joint Venture between India's DRDO and Russias NPO Novator.

Su-30MKI can carry Long Range AAM KS -172 with a Development Range of 400KMs To Target AEW/AWAC Type High Value Aircrafts. The KS 172 will attack its Targets with an adaptive high explosive ( HE) fragmentation warhead. Secure Data-Linked Based inertial Navigation System for MidCourse Guidance ( This would probably be done by AWACS or the 2-3 MKIs Working in Tandem with their Mini AWACS Capability). The missile will be used against air targets flying at altitudes from 3m to 30km with speeds up to 4,000km/h .

INDO-RUSSO CO-OPERATION. Beware pakistani saab 2000.

KS-172 Explosive Fuse and Guidance system Which ( In addition to structural and config features) gurantees absolute immunity of the Warhead detonation system to Jamming

So if i was sitting in that pathetic jf-17, mirrage rose, or f-16. I would be taking a U-turn as soon as my incoming alarm goes off. pakistan can keep staying in there so called high inferiority complex of there mentality. There 500 BVR induction is just a waste of AID money. It's better to build a hospital or a school with that money would be a wise decision for pakistan. Pakistan simply can't compare with us anymore in air wars.

People...I have told there is no comparison between AWACS and AEW&C. Phalcon is an AWACS and Erieye is a AEW&C...They are totally different platforms. Phalcon also carries COMMINT and SIGINT. which the Erieye lacks.

That dosent matter mate. There are either those who have and have nots. Who cares how they get weapons as long as they have them to use against the people who fight them.

I think KJ-2000 is already in service.

The one crashed was a KJ-200, the one being offered to Pakistan.

Yes. Probably four KJ-2000 in service. If its true we have to say China has developped the system in very short time. But there is hardly any source to say the capability of it.

BTW I have not found anything named KJ-200. Please post if you have information regarding this.

No, you don't know how long they have been developing for.

They always have a "walking with 2 legs" strategy. That is develop on its own while trying to buy off the shelf. So one fails, there's another. Same with the WS-10 and Al-31.
