I wouldn't hold my breath on that. The IA types don't understand that you can't wait for the next best thing and not currently support the now available program. You have to keep the momentum going. The IA let the momentum died and now it cost more to restart the momentum. IA lobby is addicted to imported stuff.
very true, IA doesn't deserve a domestic MIC given their pathetic attitude

That's also a valid point, but I personally believe that arjun is a thing of the past. We must look forward into the future and pit ourselves against the world's best in this regard. All my hopes lie on FMBT project
Indeed, no doubt Arjun be it Mk1 or Mk1A are things of the past and we should focus on Future prospects of MBT but even those projects are susceptible to getting derailed just like this one.

If you have watched the whole video, the major general who was there to represent the IA's side gave silly and pathetic excuses and didn't comment on why so measle number of orders were placed despite Arjun acing all the trials. IA was there the whole time in the development of Arjun, from trials to feedback everything was done in symphony with the top brass but still, A FAILED Russian tank was ordered in 1000's, and Arjun, in whose development they themselves were involved was sidelined and criticized for being overweight and less-capable. This thing only signifies that either the top brass of IA and MoD had no faith in the men who were there in the development of the tank or they had been bought up by the Russians.

All I want is a top IA general to come forward and accept that yes they fucked up Arjun project for a failed tank.

I think there is no problem in saying that if Arjun had been accepted by Army, it would have definitely seen exports and the picture of tank development in the country would have been different from now.

When are we making something like this?
:notsure:

‘In the era of UAVs, flying & Loitering ammunition, anti tank hand held missiles and other recent developments etc. has made tank very vulnerable to attack. Only 8 months back a whole column of Russian tanks and armoured vehicles heading to Ukrainian capital was shot up like tiny tin pots. Hence talk less of tanks more about overhead tank killer systems.

Not really. Tanks have always been vulnerable, especially when you don't know how to use them.

‘Arguments on both sides; the current crop of tanks will stay. No more developments and waste of money for the future building super tanks of one or the other capabilities.

The evolution of Leo-2A7 into KF-41 and Abrams M1A2 into Abrams X MBT seems to the the way forward for the future.

In our case, Army should opt for a similar evolution of Arjun MK1A into MK2 and MK3 models, rather than a complete new platform in the form of FRCV.

DRDO showcased Arjun MK1A in Republic day 2014 first. This prototype is being showcased in different arms expos for the last 8 years.

No new development has happened in this front, other than DRDO releasing some brochures and artistic impressions of FMBT/GNMBT for the last 8 years

Yeah Russian fuckall tactics and idiocy does not make the Tank obsolete - if anything it demonstrates once again, the need for combined arms doctrine AND training.
The same Soviet origin tanks are being used to great effect by the Ukrainians - and if you study the AbramsX you'll notice some interesting thought process behind survivability and lethality in the modern age.

And apart from everything - russian tanks with their carousel of doom stood no chance of survivability.
Add to that the pictures of captured Russian tanks with horrible armour, non existent explosive filler in their ERA and I find it hilarious that these tanks were sent in at all.
