The force magazine article makes one thing clear that trials {Arjun vs Bheeshma}have
happened and Arjun has done well.

Since Arjun mark 2 is coming and there is also going to be more indegenisation[ as reported in news earlier] our desire for more arjuns will be fulfilled but as with everything else it will take time .

With around 1000 t90s to be made in india by 2020. upgradation of our 2000 t72s. which makes around 3000 tanks with latest technology by 2020. i personally feel this is not enough. we must have around 6000 to 7000 tanks. china has around 7000 tanks and pak has 3000.

i feel after fighters we are gonna face short fall in tanks. we must produce more ajrun's

Our requirement is 3800 modern tanks, we have old T72 tanks, it would be better if IA, upgrade those tank on Arjun type upgrade (tank ex), with BMS.

light tanks might be useful for China border.

tanks are expendable weapons in wars today. the tank fleets in service usually will wear out in weeks ,or even in days.

So , it is not important how many tanks is in your service.
the key is whether your country can produce enough tanks to replace the damaged and arm your army after war breaks out.

Soviet could produce 20,00+ tanks every month even in peaceful time without any mobilization in 1970s
China today has even bigger potential industry capacity than Soviet at that time. Chinese steel production is 4-5 times more than Soivet in its climax stage. CHina's auto production is also 6 times more than Soviet in its climax stage.

If India really wanted to match China, India should have the yearly industry capacity to produce 40000 tanks at least.
does India have the industry capacity now?

Well Tanks are used to punch holes in enemy defence. You need to read the Gulf wars about tank battle. Yes all weapons are expendable in the modern battlefield and it depends on the infrstructure of the country. But calling a tank not a hi-tech weapon is sheer misunderstanding in your part badguy.

200000 tanks a day capacity and you want 40000 tanks capaicty for India, either something is seriously wrong with your brain or you have put too many zero in your effort to humiliate India, without application of mind.

anyhow, the industry capacity is far more important than the weapons NO. in service.

USA arm force had far less weapons than Poland armies in 1939.

today, it is the most important to improve your country's industry capacity, instead of stocking weapons in service.

frankly speaking, it is most cost peformance to pour money into infrastructures and plants ,instead importing weapons all over the world directly.

and where was the mailand located and how many bombs fell on their industries and factories? The tanks of those days were easier to build..not today's tank..the simplest and the most advanced tanks wins the battle take for example the T 34.

you are sure that "The tanks of those days were easier to build..not today's tank.." ,just because you have never seen what a major industry power is like after fully mobilized.

guy, have a visit to vast industry bases in coastal CHina. then draw you conclusion.

4000 tanks are more than enough. With only pak to be countered with tanks and considering a potent Air force which can divert atleast te fixed wing planes for anti- tank op's. China can only be ountered with light tanks and ICV's due to terrain. Thus 500-700 Arjun are enough.

It was made in die and that could be seen in poor finishing. But the gun was more potent than the western tanks. Won as it was available in large number.

So where are you planning to get the steel from? Where will you get the alloys from? Where are you planning to get the fuel from? There are lots of factors. Yes China has a huge industrial base. I am not denying it but the raw materials also matters. And most of China cannot fight a major Tank battle except for the Sikkim sector. You need to look at the terrain. And driving tanks through mountains and forests is the worst idea I have ever known. Just look at the technology that goes into a modern tank. Those werent even present in those days. bringing all of them together and assembling it is not a easy task. And major tank battles will be fought with Pakistan and not with China unless you plan to drive it through the Himalayas.

with todays missiles those areas are not safe. You wont have much base left to make those tanks.

1.fuel. China has global most advanced coal-to-oil plants in inner mongolia.
coal-to-oil tech is not popular jsut due to cost factors.
during war, cost won't be primary factors any more.
in fact, Nazi German used the tech during WW II.

2.70% of CHinese power plants used coals, instead oil. in fact, CHinese can produce 90% of energy it needs, because CHina is the biggest coal-producer and 5 biggest oil producer in the world.

3. steel. CHina has global 4th more iron ores .but most CHinese iron ore are
low grade ores and raise the cost of steel ,so Chinese steel plants would rather import iron ores from Austrialia,Brazil and India during peaceful time.
duirng wars, cost factors will be put aside.

Before attacking pearl harbor, Japanese admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was firmly oppose to Japan's launching any war against USA,because as a Japanese former navy attach in USA ,he know exactly how powerful USA industry capacity was at that time .

He once said :" whoever has visited auto plants in Detroit and oil fields in Texas
will never want to war against USA any more!"

Badguy, India has sufficient industrial capabilities to build tanks, OFB has being doing it and if the time comes, the factories which is making Nano, will be making tanks, so is Mahindra and Mahindra and other auto makers.

yeah..alright and where are you planning to fight a Tank battle? In the Russian front? Then all the best. If you are going to fight a tank battle of WW II scale in the offensive or defensive it is only the Sikkim Sector. The other terrains dosent permit large scale tank movements. And I am telling you again that large Industrial complex is of no use during a wartime. You need to transport it and make all the alloys. It aint an easy task. In wartime I will be surprised if China could build 500 tanks in a day. No country can do this feat. And today's war requires lots of money.

question is who has more missle plants?

CHina can produce missles much faster than india, due to its vast industry capacity.

guy.

Chinese war preparation:

1. built plants and develop blueprints during peaceful time. only limited elite military units are armed good weapons.

2. deploy a limited elite military units to resist the first wave invasion until its vast industry base is moblized.

3.after CHina's vast industry base is moblized ,then push enemy back.

India's war preparation:
1.stock weapons as many as possible during peaceful time.
2. defeat enemy as soon as possible before its weapons stock wears out.

Prolonging the War is sheer stupidity. And here India will not be the aggressor in the start and even if aggression takes place it will be a Blitzkreig operation. It will be too difficult for China to know what hit them. First the airbases, and tank and artillery regiments will be taken out. The Tank war will mostly be defensive in nature. and transportation to the Tawang sector is another difficult task for the Chinese. The Chinese tanks are underpowered and hence prompted the Pakistanis to go to thee Ukaranians for the engine. And also the engine is subjected to reliability issues. putting together a tank is not an easy task especially when it comes to the engine parts. Badguy why dont you ask S-2 or Vladmir how difficult it is to repair a tank on the battlefield even with the equipments Americcans and Russians possess. Building a tank is not that easy even if you have all the parts of the tank ready and just needs to be assembled.
