T-7A will win, USN wants first aircraft by 2028, plenty of time till it becomes a naval aircraft.
The Boeing T-7A is made for the air force, here we are making a naval fighter from scratch, it might be a tejas derivative but a front line design compared to a trainer makes a big difference.

Hey for AMCA, Tejas MK 2, TEDBF Navy/Airforce and future itirations of the respected designs; the canopy at least needs to be a full bubble like an F-22, I really don't like instruments over natural pilot view angles. Even the current Tejas and AMCA designs have the same Eastern block design philosophy of defecting pilots due to too much leeway in design.

Bubble canopy is not needed if the aircraft is equipped with DAS or DAS-like sensors projected into the HMD.

Tell that to Lockheed Martin , dude in wvr ,you can't rely on das amd all , for high off boresight wvr you need proper angle of view ,bubble canopy whereas serve another purpose , decreasing rcs increased due to two piece canopy .

DAS-like sensors and augmented realities are only going to be more sophisticated moving forward. Right now USAF are already using augmented reality to train against computer generated red forces while actually flying.

Tejas has 0 chances, only American aircraft will be bought even if LCA LiFT is better than the American competitors.
IF they find any better platform outside US then they do buy it but makes an US version and produces it completely in mainland US. Like they did with the Harrier aka Jump Jet.

If they find LIFT version to be best for their use case then they will get it but forget about getting it produced in India and then exporting to US.

Nearly everyone else who's taking part in this has chosen an American partner to manufacture in the US and provide future servicing/ maintenance services. Who's left for HAL to join with?

They only import or buy foreign equipment if it is produced by a NATO country. They rarely buy any Non-NATO stuff, apart from a few Israeli equipment ofcourse as Israel is as good as a NATO ally.

Non-NATO also rarely makes a good enough product which can beat US ones. Sweden is only one who can claim good enough Non-NATO stuff.
But if some country in current geo-political scenario can make a good product and the country does not have strong anti US views then they can consider it.
But again if they select any defense product, they will solely make it in US with US specific modifications.

Waste of time and money for India to pursue this IMO. I think that Tejas would be eliminated almost immediately. New supplier with an abysmal project management record.

Free advertisement could open new markets in the west for Tejas. US is the pinnacle of Mil-Industry Complex- so any win there comes with stratospheric bragging rights. Tejas is probably an overkill for their requirements but is attractively priced & will form the light fighter end of the fourth largest air force in the world. Spares should not be a problem. Solely on technicals, India's product should be on top, the India-US strategic dance will provide necessary political heft to our entry or if not we'll at least know that that is just hot air. Plus, let's not put the cart before the horse & aim to win this one with full gusto.

2 seat T-7 weight: 3.25 tons, engine: F404, cost <$30 million
1 seat Tejas weight: 6.5 tons, engine: F404, cost >$40 million

Why would US consider an Indian naval trainer when the IN already rejected the fighter version as being unacceptably underpowered? And India's product should be on top on technical grounds?

In terms of presenting an offer in conjunction with a US company, companies are not inclined to finance bids that are no hopers, so I'm not optimistic that any US company will want to team up with HAL.
