I wonder how useful AMCA would be with such a tiny internal weapons package. Only 4 internal hard points giving the ability to carry 2 missiles & 2 500kg bombs.

How useful AMCA is depends on what those 2 missiles and 2 500kg bombs meet on the other end of their trajectory. It could just win you the war one enemy AD unit at a time.

Its the same for any medium weight 5th gen jet....if u want more weapons inside get a bigger and heavier plane....if we manage to miniaturize our missiles in future more can be carried inside

4 internal hardpoints are more than sufficient for Stealth/Semi Stealth missions. You are not going to get challenged anyways. We entered the enemy airspace undetected without even a stealth plane. Now I leave it to your imagination what we could do with this.

i am not saying they haven't but if amca 's airframe has to compete with 6th gen ones like that of tempest then something more(for ir stealth) would be required becoz amca will come in 2032-34 so it has to compete with 6 gen fighters

It will have non-stealth mode which will carry more but - the Purpose of stealth plane is getting initial break through in war , destroying enemy Radars & Capabilities ,Air bases making enemy toothless then 4th gen planes & Bomb trucks will bomb enemy to stone age .

I think you'll need 1000kg bombs to destroy high value targets with thick walls/bunkers. Same reason why F35 can carry 2*1000kg bombs with 2 or more missiles.

With such a small payload of AMCA, more planes will be needed to do the same damage that an F35 can do alone.

I think India should have gone for a slightly bigger plane that can carry 2*1000kgs & 2 long range AAMs in main weapons bay and two side bays for short range AAMs. This would have been ideal.

Besides, AMCA doesnt have EOS blended to its body like F 35 and has to carry an external pod which reduces tge stealth achieved from shaping, so more visible.

eots would be there as improvement is possible side bays are also possible as design is not finalized ,otherwise cats warrior will alos be a good option for bombing

ADA will soon approach GOI for official sanctions for AMCA and TEDBF.


15000 Cr for AMCA , 13000 Cr for TEDBF.

Work on two NGTD is already started , sanction of Project will speed up the development . Two NGTD planned data generated will use for Developing AMCA Prototype.

TEDBF won't have any TD but three Prototypes are planned.

Depends, for an escort or denial of airspace role, it could use simply external hardpoints to have stacked weapon pods. But if something is required to be covert mission, then those 4 internal hard points could be useful as well.
