I am not surprised at all as these are the more realistic timeline for AMCA
Tejas Mk1 FOC- end of 2019
Tejas MK1A's first flight - 2021, induction in 2023
Tejas MK2 first flight 2023-24 and induction by 2028-2030
AMCA first flight 2032- 2035

India building new fighter jet

The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India’s next indigenous fighter, is expected to make its first flight by 2032. Development work on the jet is under way.

“The AMCA will feature geometric stealth and will initially fly with two GE-414 engines. Once we develop our own engine, it can be replaced with that. We expect the first flight in 2032,” a defence source said.

“There are two major ways of making a military platform stealthier. One is geometric stealth and other is material stealth. In geometric stealth, the shape of the aircraft is designed at such angles so as to deflect away maximum radar waves thereby minimising its radar cross section. In material stealth, radar-absorbing materials are used in making the aircraft which will absorb the radio waves thus reducing the radar footprint. The AMCA will initially be based on geometric stealth, we can look at material stealth at a later stage,” the source said.

The Indian Air Force has given land to the Defence Research and Development Organisation to set up facilities for the project.

The plan is to build on the capabilities and expertise developed during the development of the light combat aircraft (LCA) and produce a medium fifth generation fighter aircraft.

“Apart from the technologies developed from the LCA project, the new fighter programme is important as technologies coming in through that will flow into the AMCA project,” another official source said.

The aircraft will be powered by the same GE-414 engine on the LCA Mk-2 variant which is in the design phase.

A GE-414 produces 98kN thrust compared to 84kN thrust of the GE-404 engine which is on the LCA Mk1.

At Aero India 2016, DRDO officials had stated that the basic design configuration has been frozen after wind tunnel testing and there are three critical technologies that need to be developed -- stealth, thrust vectoring and super cruise.

This is India’s only fifth generation aircraft programme following the decision not to go ahead with the fifth generation project with Russia.

Utter utter horse sh!t.

2022-4 will be the time the first TD flies and 18 months to 2 years later the second TD will fly. All going well plane will be certified by 2032.

Just look at the OFFICAL documents, don’t go by “unnamed source” crap that these presstitutes like to peddle. EOI for fabrication of TD1/2 thar had final submission date of March 2018 said T0+3.5 years was the time for first TD to fly. So say it takes ADA 1 year to select a vendor, TD1 will Fly in 2022/3.

Just the other week new India express reported SLBM test would be conducted from pontoon and earlier tests were a failure. Then we learn today that in August Arihant has successfully fired 3 B-05s. Then there is all that BS about Arihant and the hatches......

When will we ever learn? These guys are proven LIARS.

+ the F414 part should give it away. These engines in 2032?

AMCA is entirely delinked to LCA project and even MK.2 is delinked to MK.1A so it’s really not about progressing from one to the other to the other.

amca 1st flight will be around 2021 its not fully dependent on mk2 or mk1a... what is you logic behind this idea?

Most of the #presstitues are thrashing around blindly, their sources are not giving much it seems for the fear of danda and their general disrepute

Hence, rubbish being published not for accuracy but to deliberately spread disinformation in the hope that some one would take the bait and come up with a "clarification", thereby revealing key details.

It's the same strategy one sees with reports claiming Shitistanis have the fastest growing nuke arsenal and that it's bigger than India, all in an attempt for India to reveal our exact stockpile.

This is EXACTLY what is happening and I fear there’s a far more sinister motivation than that, at least with strategic projects. The slew of negative reports about Indian nuclear boats a few months back was highly suspicious as it didn’t even match what we know to be true. Media seemed to be poking the Navy/DRDO to issue a statement.

Similar sort of thing seems to be happening with Rafale, CONgress seems to want IAF to give full list of customisations made to their birds which if you believe certain reports would expose a strategic mission profile that is linked to these birds.

It’s certainly a fishing expedition but the question is who is motivating them?

+ just connect the dots. NSA issues formal orders down the entire chain of command to never comment on strategic projects and he personally oversees any breach in this. Few months later and all of this

The problem here is that despite India and DRDO telling about timelines, these people continue to harp by giving fake news based on random source.

These are more than just baits. They are intended to create negative psychosis and wage psychological warfare. Baiting may be a second motive.

Maybe maybe not.

One thing is for certain is it has a corrosive effect on the mindset of people and loses confidence in their own country’s abilities.

Also primes them to be ripped off by the world, don’t be surprised if next week media start creating “demand” for F35 in India.

As usual ,lack of conversation skills with very poor understanding of the sentences responded by the source . The guy quoting the flight of AMCA with indigenous engine by 2032 not with f414 ,the hindu seriously needs to replace Their graduates from Oxford university of Bihar with Bhoozpuri Masala.

Even that doesn’t sound right. Kaveri will begin flight testing on LCA soon, won’t take 10+ years after that to have it ready for AMCA

My logic is, ADA is using every resource to get FOC for mK1. their all expertise and faculties are busy with that so they put Mk2 and AMCA on the back burner. secondly, ADA is already having more project in hand than it could deliver like, FOC, MK1A, MK2. moreover, ADA has to have finished all these projects in the next 10 years. third, AMCA itself is a highly technological complex programme it will need next level testing facilities, infrastructure and a highly dedicated and motivated team which ADA yet to develop
So in this highly congested schedule, ADA need a space to breathe so either they have to abandon mk2 or push AMCA timelines further
MK2 completion date, as per ADA, is 2028- 2030 so why we need MK2 while we are developing 5th generation plane in parallel? one more thing, here on this forum, we actually expecting AMCA debut flight ( 2023) earlier than Mk2 (2024-25)

ADA does designing only. FOC is done by HAL. MK1A does not need design changes but only needs enhanced equipment fitment. DOn't mix-up

technologically they seem delinked but not in expertise. when ADA say they have enough technology in-house to develop a 5th generation plan which means they have people ( who gained knowledge by developing LCA) and testing facilities but all these ( expert+testing facilities) will be busy in LCA Mk2.
if I am not wrong, MK2 is still on the drawing board because everything/everyone in ADA is busy with FOC of LCA

sorry dost, as far as i can see FOC is an ADA's job because of FOC itself a developmental milestone. ADA design, test, analyse and come up with the desired result then ADA ask to HAL that please manufacture or adjust or implement changes.

how all resources will be used in mk1/mk1a and mk2i dont get it there is already dedicated universities and ada/drdo staff for amca so they will continue to work at amca no matter what other project we are working on be it mk1/mk1a or mk2.
and mk1a will need least resources as mk1/mk1a currently handled by hal not ada/drdo..

it is more of your emotion words (sometimes we all do) it does not reflect the real concern. ADA is being criticised for consistent delays still you r giving it least priority . again HAL have no expertise in design and development of an aircraft so FOC is an ADA's job

Fitting IFR, avionics, SDR etc come under manufacturing. There is no plane development involved. ADA develops the basic design features like TVC, aerodynamics, supercruise, stealth whereas the fitment is decided by HAL. FOC MK1 is not held up due to lack of technology but due to lack of integration. That is HAL's job. ADA only develops technology, not integrates new things like BVR missiles etc. Upgrade of Jaguar, Mirag2000 etc did not involve ADA

Let we don't argue just on assumptions. May be someone here with proper information would explain us better
