What about "Stall"? Maybe the aircraft stalled and caused that nose dive? In stall the aircraft might have gone at a very high Angle of Attack like this :-
View attachment 145934
And hence it stalled and that nosedive was caused.
To have a bank stall, there should have been some altitude gain during that phase, but if you see the data from flightradar, it looks like it just went down without a stall. Either some catastrophic failure or pilot suicide.

The reason the last max crashed was cause of a system that automatically pushed the nose down In certain conditions . (They blamed India coders but the actual issue was the solution itself) . Now it seems this too went nose down .

Boeing said it corrected the software but dont know about if they implemented the backup sensor than the single sensor which sends the conflicting data to the software.
As always, the equipment type is not in the media

If it is not Stall than it has do something with the Elevator Control which caused the aircraft to enter such a nose dive.
Also have a look here.

Have you noticed how the aircraft is making a "C" Shaped dive? This indicates that the pilots of the aircraft were fighting to pitch the nose up! So I doubt it is suicide. Unfortunately for the pilots, they were too late, at such altitude, that attempt to pitch up would have never worked out!

RIP to everyone on board. Still the cause is confusing to me.

The China Eastern plane that crashed was a Boeing 737-800.

BEIJING — The plane that crashed on Monday in southern China was a Boeing 737-800, a mainstay of airline fleets around the world with a strong safety record.
so not 737 Max they say as china is still testing its upgrades in chinese mainland.

lets wait for more info.

You can add the IA genrils too. But the comment was more referring to the mig21s. Here is a blast from the past

This was literally 20 years ago!
Jaguar is a very safe fighter jet and we should have continued its production or derive an improved version In dual seat and single seat version to increase flight time of pilots as conversion trainer. Or develop something similar a dual engine configuration is best suitable in our varied climate and it can work from sea to mountain region provided enough thrust is available.

Mig 21 were done in 90s itself and were supposed to be replaced by Mig 29 s then Mirage 2k then they said Tejas but nothing worked out.

Coming to cheetah etc I have multiple times asked for a Ka 226 like twin engine helicopter for better safety also I think if we can have a tail rotor that's fine too providing extra security and stability .

Helis are already pretty risky to operate so having extra security is worth the price.

My god ..look at the descend of the plane..this can be a suicide by pilot or something very wrong with the plane
I think it was China Eastern Airlines 5735 which crashed, that tweet mentioned different aircraft?

Here is the flight tracker for MU-5735

Flight #MU5735 was flying from Kunming to Guangzhou. It took off from Kunming at 05:11 UTC. It was cruising at 29.100 feet until 06:20:59 when it suddenly started to lose altitude very fast.

The plane descended more than 20,000 feet in just over a minute.

Why? I want lockheed martin to go down
american companies doing bad affects everything in their eco system,it means their defence systems become worse which means it becomes easier to deal with them as a geopolitical entity.

look at other private company dealing within america such as lcs, ford, etc and the many failed Self propeeled arty acquisition attempts.

It has to be something similar to this. Apart from the wings tearing off and pilot suicide nothing can cause a dive that steep. Even wings tearing off would cause large structural damage to the hull of the aircraft causing it to likely disintegrate into multiple sections. From the video it looks like it crashed in relatively one piece.

Boeing, suppliers' shares fall after 737 plane crashes in Southern China

March 21 (Reuters) - Shares of U.S. planemaker Boeing Co (BA.N) and its suppliers fell on Monday as a 737-800 aircraft of China Eastern Airlines (600115.SS), with 132 people on board, crashed in the mountains of southern China.

The plane crashed after a sudden descent from cruising altitude. Media reported that rescue workers had found no sign of survivors. The cause of the crash was not yet known. Boeing said it was working to gather more information.

FlightRadar 24 said the jet involved in the accident is six years old. Following the crash, Chinese state media said the airline has grounded its 737-800 fleet, which according to the flight tracking website had 109 such planes.

The popular variant is a predecessor to the Boeing's 737 MAX, which awaits regulatory approval in China, the world's largest domestic aviation market. read more

The 737-800 has a maximum seating capacity of 189 and is equipped with a CFM-56 engine, according to Boeing's website.

It was not clear immediately if the aircraft involved in the accident had the same engine as airlines are free to choose engines from other suppliers.

The CFM engines are made by a joint venture between General Electric Co and France's Safran SA (SAF.PA). GE shares were down about 1%, while France-listed Safran fell 3%.

The planemaker's shares fell 4.5% in early trading, while the Chinese airline's U.S. listed ADRs were down about 9%.

Parts suppliers Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc (SPR.N), Hexcel Corp (HXL.N) and Triumph Group Inc (TGI.N) were down between 1% and 4%.

CFRA Research analyst Colin Scarola said the crash should not technically impact the MAX's recertification in China where it has been grounded for three years following the two fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia.

But he did not rule out the country using the accident as an excuse to delay an approval. "China likely would not admit this is what they are doing. But we certainly think it could happen," Scarola said.

Boeing 737 passenger jet crashes in China with 132 people on board

  • Contact was lost with the flight over Wuzhou, in the Guangxi region, authorities said. It was scheduled to fly from Kunming to Guangzhou in the southeast of the country.
  • There were 132 people on board, including 123 passengers and nine crew members.
  • The Boeing 737-800 was cruising at 29,100 feet and began a sharp descent.
A China Eastern Airlines Boeing 737-800 with 132 people on board plunged midflight and crashed in a mountainous area of southern China on Monday, according to officials and flight-tracking data.
Flight MU5735 left Kunming at 1:11 p.m. local time (1:11 a.m. ET) and was due to arrive at Guangzhou in the southeast of the country in less than two hours, according to information on FlightRadar24.

The plane was cruising at 29,100 feet and began a sharp descent after 2:20 p.m., recovering more than 1,000 feet briefly then resuming the dive before it lost contact. It fell more than 25,000 feet in about two minutes.
"This kind of tragedy is extremely unusual," Richard Aboulafia, a managing director at AeroDynamic Advisory, said of the plane's sudden, sharp drop from its cruising altitude.
China's Civil Aviation Administration said it was sending a team to the crash site in the Guangxi region. Investigators will work to recover so-called black boxes that contain cockpit voice recordings and flight data. They are also likely to examine the aircraft's previous flights, maintenance history, weather data and pilot health.
Chinese state media said the crash had caused a mountain fire. Video circulating on social media showed fire and smoke in the mountains and a section of a plane near a dirt path. Chinese officials have yet to confirm any passenger deaths.
If all 123 passengers and nine crew members are confirmed dead, it would be China's deadliest airline crash since 1994 and the deadliest ever for China Eastern Airlines, according to the Aviation Safety Network database.

The 737-800 has a strong safety record. The one that crashed Monday in China first flew in June 2015. It was not a Boeing 737 Max, the plane that was grounded worldwide after two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019.

China Eastern Airlines confirmed the crash and the number of people on board via a statement on Weibo, which is China's version of Twitter. The airline said it is sending workers to the site of the crash and has opened a hotline for family members.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said it was aware of the crash and will assist in the investigation "if asked."
Typically when a crash takes place, the country where the crash occurs leads the investigation. Because Flight 5735 was a U.S.-made plane, the National Transportation Safety Board, would normally also participate in the investigation. Boeing as the manufacturer and its regulator, the FAA, would assist.
"Our thoughts are with the passengers and crew of China Eastern Airlines Flight MU 5735," Boeing said in a statement. "Boeing is in contact with the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and our technical experts are prepared to assist with the investigation led by the Civil Aviation Administration of China."
China Eastern changed the colors of its website and social media accounts to black and white in a sign of mourning.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said he was "shocked" to learn of the incident, according to state media CCTV. He instructed Shanghai-based China Eastern to organize search and rescue efforts and begin an investigation into the cause of the crash.
The last major passenger plane crash in China was in 2010, when 42 people died on a Henan Airlines Embraer E-190 flight.
Boeing shares were down more than 4% in Monday trading. Spirit AeroSystems, which makes 737 fuselages, was down 4.2%.

There are more than 4,200 737-800s in service worldwide and 1,177 in Chinese airlines' fleets — the most of any country — according to aviation data and consulting firm Cirium.
Boeing has been trying to recover its reputation after the two crashes of the Max. The Boeing 737 Max was grounded worldwide in March 2019 after the second of the two crashes, occurring within five months of one another.
Indonesia's Lion Air Flight 610 crashed on Oct. 29, 2018, and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 went down on March 10, 2019. All 346 people on board the two flights were killed in the crashes.
China was the first country to ground the Max after the second crash. The U.S. and most other countries cleared the planes to return to service more than a year ago. Chinese regulators allowed the Max to resume flying in December, with changes, but the planes have not yet returned to service.
Boeing has been preparing to resume deliveries of its best-selling Max plane to China, a crucial milestone since airlines pay the bulk of an aircraft's price upon delivery.
"If Boeing cannot deliver 737s to China, it will be that much harder to reduce the company's 737 inventory, and this would likely make it more difficult to boost production from the [31 planes per month] planned for this year," JP Morgan Boeing analyst Seth Seifman wrote in a note Monday.
Monday's crash was a 737NG, or next generation, the model before the 737 Max.
Boeing reported its third annual loss in a row in January, disclosing $5.5 billion in costs tied to manufacturing flaws, which have forced the company to pause deliveries of the company's 787 Dreamliners for most of the last 17 months.

I fear, as soon as Tejas comes in numbers and roughened up by active duty in IAF, and gets little older, they will be crashing left and right due to poor quality parts from HAL

Russian engines? Mig-29 has 2 of them! What is the probability that BOTH of them develops snag at the same time?

Why JF-17 using the same Mig-29 engine has a lower crash rate? Why does Jaguar powered by Royce-Royce engines BUT manufactured by HAL have a high crash rate?
JF-17 doesn't necessarily have a lower Crash rate. Till date more than 1600+ various Variants of MIG-29s have been produced and 164+ JF 17 have been built till date.

So nearly 10× more MIG-29 have been produced as many JF 17 have been produced, so that is also why MIG-29 crashes more Because more mig-29 have been produced more ,fly a lot more too and hence will crash more too.

Also don't believe the numbers of JF 17 Crashes publicly Acknowledged by the PAF ,JF 17 probably has a higher crash rate than Reported Because Pakistan hides Aircraft crashes.
