i do wonder wtf the HAL guy is talking about when he says a 2027 first flight. He must’ve been talking about something else
so what explains the criminal delay in sanctioning funds? Someone has to take the fall and be kicked out. Fkers are pretending like the chinks arent inducting 150+ J-16s and 20s each years

No one can explain these things, few even seem to care.

same story with IMRH, HTT40 (until recently), AMCA, AWACS(I), 110KN engine JV, LUH etc etc. starve them of funds and thereby keep them away from full project implementation then turn around and expect miracles from them.

if HAL hadn’t put their own money into LCH, HTT40 and LCA MK.1A all would still be in testing or on the drawing board.

The GoI should get out of the business of doing business, give a requirement and let the industry coke up with the solutions. This hand holding and needing to go to the cabinet at every stage is just stupidity and isn’t replicated in any other mature industrial power

Its normal outside PMOs office, only pgrns under PMO gets funds without delay or with minor delay.

US does fund projects. US govt did pay 1B each for prototyping to LM and Boeing for F35 competition. In fact they paid more than that. The actual development was done by the private enterprises, but no company will invest 100% in a dollar consuming fighter programme. In India we don’t even have private aerospace companies.

Well that’s the idea behind make 1/2 isn’t it? Government will foot the bill for development/prototype but the work will be done by the private sector. It’s good on paper but how many of these will actually be allowed? FICV was meant to be a poster child for that but almost 10 years later and it still hasn’t even gone beyond EOI

the current setup where aerospace projects have to go to the GoI for approvals at every single Stage is beyond absurd.

there’s a reason Saras will never be anything more than a TD and why RTA is an entirely paper plane. This top down babu run approach is laughably useless and only produces failure and delays

How do you plan to kick out PM Modi, FM and DM as they are responsible for sanctioning funds?
Good plan kick the Modi out who is pro indigenization but doing delay in funding projects and get the Congress who doesn't want to procure anything or if at all want to procure they want it from foreign player as it gives them kickbacks.

Well you are the one who wanted to kick out the people responsible and crying for that. Modi is an politician. Allocating funds for AMCA doesn’t bring votes.
These things take time. I am frustrated at Modi too at the delay, but there is a reason why he is PM and we are people chatting on an forum anonymously. So who do you want to kick out again?

India honestly had lots of opportunities. We are still manufacturing Dornier and I hear we still import some parts from parent company which has gotten sold 2 times in the last 30 years. With HAL revenue, we could have even bought Dornier.

I said in another thread. India shouldn’t waste money on Saras or RTA unless we develop an indigenous engine ourselves. We should ask Tata to come up with civilian version of C295 by teaming up with NAL and sometime later get the full IP rights for the civilian production version.

Why would anyone buy a civilian C-295? Unless we are trying to waste a lot of money, let's not do that.
