Exactly. I am eagerly scanning all news channels in the hope that I may watch a program or even some coverage on Tejas. I got extremely disappointed.
Agreed.
It is hard to cultivate national pride when national achievements are ignored.
Yesterday, I had to explain what the 'Tejas' is to one of my colleagues.:frusty:.
Then I forced him to watch 4 Youtube videos to get him up to speed in Tejas, Agni, Astra, Arjun, Dhanush & everything else.
Sometimes, you have to do what you have to do.

Maybe if we had a dedicated science channel. - other than the school level educational ones.
Our channels = movies, soaps, news:- which is why Discovery+NatGeo have the monopoly on Science & Technology media in India.
NatGeo did some 'Mission Udaan' and 'Mission Army' some years ago, but I haven't seen anything recent.

I love the recent ad though - especially the song.

We rely on west for buying weapons then we rely on Nat Geo to market our weapons? Is that good?
We need indigenous product photography team man! Product photography in itself is a complex subject within photography that requires specialization. A good presentation increases the appeal of your product, and makes it more desirable.

Take a look at the difference in the impact that it creates on the mind :

Point to consider is that we don't produce weapons for export market. Two things need to happen before we see what is being expected.

1) Clearcut intention from policy makers, to use defence industry as a tool to bring in more revenue in foreign currency.

2) Every version of indigenous product developed by india should have a export version product built into the project plan.

I hope I am making sense..

I understand what you are saying but I am not speaking about just sales. I am talking about having the better narrative. The world belongs to the person who tells the better story. If we ourselves don't tell our story properly, some outsider will tell your story for you. That is why India is being associated with terms like Rape, and 'intolerance' more than software and technology. This is a result of foreign grip on the narrative about India but more than that, it is a result of our own complacency. If you want to escape from the narrative then you have to start telling your own story, and do it well. Please see this, you will understand what I mean to say :

Count how many movies the west has made about world wars and their involvement in it, why? because it serves as their base on which modern American morality is based. The American narrative of World War is "Hitler was evil, we were puritans, therefore we had to wage a war", while in reality the US was doing all those evil things that Hitler was doing (racial segregation, eugenics, giving injections of bio weapons to 'Negros', pursuing the atom bomb), therefore it is essential for them to control the narrative and tell the story in a way which justifies their intervention. Similarly, count how many movies are made about holocaust. At least 2 movies are made every year! why is that? they want to drill this idea in people's head that killing jews is bad. Today if someone says something anti-Semitic in their society then he gets ostracized.

Have we been able to do it? have we been able to make our case about 1948, 1965, 1971, Kargil wars? Have we been able to make movies documenting movies about Mughal atrocities and genocide? Have we been able to tell the story of Kashmir Pandits? This is why we keep getting killed. We don't tell our story properly.

We live in a country of 80% Hindus where no one knows about Kashmir Pandit genocide, but one insect dies in Dadri and we are being called 'Hindu terrorists'. Is that acceptable? That is what happens when you fail to document your history and build a narrative. Then someone else takes the initiative and builds a counter-narrative and guilt traps you.

Interesting discussion, I'm in.

I think we should move this discussion to a different thread, let's not derail the LCA Tejas thread for that.

You can start a thread and let others know, I'm sure many us had not discussed on narrative for some time. You can make the above post as OP in that thread.

Can India export Tejas to Iran with American engine? I guess no, so K9 being introduced to Tejas is a necessity...

In 2015 May - September, the CAG reports stated that the Tejas lacked pilot protection from 7.62 calibre ammunition.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed with the Mk1a and other new versions?

That indeed is an achievement for DRDO, HAL. Let's see this baby fighter in large numbers in our defence forces.
