dont be disappointed, tajes is the best plane in south asia after su-30 mki, even at the present situation, think how advance it will be after mk-2 .

more over it is India 's own fighter, unlike others
It doesn't matter what i think right now , it's what it all looks like.
The fact that he said it , and said it today of all day's annoys me to hell.

Werther it was just an honest mistake or political pot-shots, there has been damage done to the image of the Tejas.
All unnecessarily.

LCA Tejas handed over to Indian Air force, IAF Chief clarifies it is a fourth gen aircraft

http://frontierindia.net/lca-tejas-...f-chief-clarifies-it-is-a-fourth-gen-aircraft

By Frontier India | January 10th, 2011 | Category: Indian Air Force News | No Comments »

The day was not without controversy. IAF Chief was misunderstood as saying that it was not a Fourth Generation aircraft. Air Chief Marshal PV Naik later clarified that it was a fourth generation aircraft. He said that some systems and maneuvers have to be finalized leading to the FOC.
This is to be expected he already made the political pot-shot now he says its all a mis-understanding.

Not good for for brand "TEJAS" at all. It might affect, the image if at all India ever intended to export it, even the MK-II would be affected due to such pot-shots made so early and that too on its IOC, pathetic.

This was supposed to be a day for celebration.
This a****** ACM ruined it with his , half baked comments.
This is the last f****** straw , I have had enough of this BS.

This is a never ending cycle of **** ,
even still at the end of the project , more than 20 years , this is what we have to listen to at the end.

Hell even the Army had kinder things to say about the Arjun when it was inducted.

All his comments amounted was the fact that the Tejas is joke, ADA and HAL are joke, GoI is joke , we are joke for thinking anything would ever change and IAF is the worst kind of ******* joke.

Boss everyone from the babudome to these top Military officials are too unhappy with India inducting its own LCA and especially Antony going forward with Tejas induction, they fear that their coffers will remain half filled and Tejas program may start a domino effect which would lead India on the path of self-reliance, hence, no Bofors scam, no middle-men making millions (which in turn goes into the pockets of concern parties)......same thing is happening in Navy....as IN is getting more and more self-reliant, the top brass (on the verge of retirement) and their family run businesses ( consultancies/ middle men) are creating a big hue and cry against indigenous projects if they don't include foreign players....no doubt the pressure from such pressure groups is evident from IAF chiefs' irresponsible and lowly statements, which were unwarranted on this occasion in the presence of Antony! This just shows the rot in the system which is against any indigenous defense developments (Arjun is another such case in favor of T-90)!

Its nothing but dirty politics being played by ACM. He is trying to push MRCA at the cost of LCA . He has no right to ruin the expectation of so many Indians on this occasion. He and his puppet Shiva Aroor should be lashed publicly Taliban style.

i have to give the ACM the benefit of doubt if he says the LCA does not fit the AIrforce expectations i'm bound to believe him. However its high time they accelerate the MRCA and the design of Tejas Mk2

everyone knows that LCA is not what we expected and LCA mk2 is already underway. Today was a great day and he had no right to ruin it. LCA was replacement for MIG 21 and its more than a replacement . When IAF raises no voice against existing MIG 21 then why raise voice against LCA on ocasion of its IOC . Anything that donot have made in India label is a better weapon for them .

Oh! Grow up. This is our first actual attempt at developing a fighter jet. There are a lot of issues still plaguing the aircraft. Look at the specifications released, -2 to 6G at IOC with 22 deg AOA and -3.5 to 8G for FOC with 24deg AOA. That Suks big time. The Mirage2k did 26deg at FOC and that was in the 80s.

The jet is indeed underpowered, overweight and the radar sucks. It does not have an EW equipment installed and I am 100% sure the aircraft is not even ready for "Mock" combat operations. The ACM is unhappy about being forced to induct the jet and it has nothing to do with politics. He is unhappy with the IOC version of LCA and is looking forward to the Mk2 version of the LCA. 2 Squadrons of DUD aircraft is damaging to the air force. I always thought something could be up when they ordered the second squadron, now it only looks like it is being shoved down the services throats.

When the ACM said the aircraft is not fourth gen, it is an understatement. Lack of a good radar, capable weapons systems installed and lack of EW means the aircraft is between a second gen and third gen prototype. It is almost exactly like the first Mig-21 we received.

My friend was right last year. Wow. We really su*k.
Oh! And I apologize for posting such a critical post because some of you cannot stomach facts even when they are staring right in the face. What a disappointment especially when the Chinese unveiled their first attempt at fifth gen aircraft? It's a wonder the ACM isn't already tearing his hair.

Still looking forward to MK2 though. I guess the only consolation is the JF-17 has worse problems.

Why IAF not field TEJAS against PAKISTANI F 16? IAF is going to station them in South India?
There is a difference between home base and FOBs. You know Mirages are stationed at Gwalior which is far away from any conflict zone. Does it speak anything other than, Gwalior is home base of Mirages and these jets can be and have been deployed when need arises eg. Mirages were sent from Gwalior to Ambala during Kargil war? Similarly LCA's home is selur and if and when requirement will arise LCas will be deployed to FOBs like Naliya. BTW IAF periodically deploys small detachments of fighters from their home bases for operational training and exposure and one day LCA will be sent too.

Tejas will achieve all that for FOC as well. The question is what is the point of this statement when IAF is getting MKI, MRCA, FGFA, upgrades of mig29 and mirage 2000 anyway for high end. The fact of matter is LCA is more capable than Mig21, which it was intended to replace. So why dont they place the order of 120 LCA straight away to replace Mig21 and even mig27 1 for 1. Thing is these guys dont care if younger pilots go to their death flying rusting metal frames.

Even F-35 and Super Hornet (700 or so going to be inducted) are dud according to some people
Why is hybrid Elta EL/M-2032 MMR not a good radar ???
R73 is perfectly capable system and it will have R77 as well ? Care to explain what is wrong with it ?
Mayavi includes RWR, LWS, MAWS. Even MKI doesn't have LWS and MAWS

Anyway it is a great achievement by DRDO, ADA etc. Credit should go to them when it is due. As far as these media/bloggers are concerned, don't know on whose payroll they are on.

Looking forward to FOC, especially firing of BVR missile.

I wont even mind if LCA-MK1 is inducted in high numbers i.e. 250-300 planes, provided Kaveri engine variant is developed for it and MMRCA is scrapped altogether. We have very good heavy capability in MKI and FGFA production will start in 2020. There are going to be quite capable 100+ upgraded Mig-29 and M2000 with in next 5 years.

LCAs with BVR and EW coupled with good data links supported by AWACS and in very high numbers will form a very good defensive system. If we are ever going to fight a war with China+Pak combined we will need depth in our capability. In a prolonged war we will need strong indigenous capability as most likely most countries will either slap sanctions or will say that its your problem, deal with it. That is what we should prepare for. If LCA is still dropping Indian LGBs and firing Indian Astras after 3 months of hot war, I will take it any day. As far as Kaveri is concerned, a variant can be built to fit LCA at its first engine change.

Sometimes people get carried away about stealth, AESA, supercruise etc. But in real war all the fancy stuff wont last long especially if you are not producing those. In the end war is about killing your enemy. After few months in a war a capability to drop dumb bombs in high numbers, especially when enemy air defenses are destroyed will be a devastating capability to have as far as air force is concerned. LCA is a small airplane and is perfectly suitable for take off from roads like Gripen. Main airfields will become inoperable in a prolonged hot war.

Just my opinion

Just as I had said almost 18 months ago--LCA is not even a 4 th gen plane. Its a refined Mig 21 at best. 12 months---yes 12 months get FOC and deliver mark 2 prototype-- you can perhaps salvage some pride and meaning to the millions poured. Otherwise send the aunties and uncles (hats off to them though) home on pension and buy a machine thats means business and stop making Uncle Naik more grumpy.

By the way I am sure a lot of people on this forum(we all know who it is don't we?)will have to hide their faces and swallow the bitter pill after their chest thumping about Tejas. come on now boys dont tell me Uncle Naik is wrong.

Perhaps ADA/ADE/HAL/DRDO could have been more honest and transparent--- they kept the facts and performance specifications of LCA supressed and finally the bull dog(ACM) spills the beans and spoils the fun on the D-Day.Who my friends was asking for trouble?? Why the hell are people getting upset with the ACM? He is one responsible for the preparedness of the force. And again some half informed nitwit despite pages and pages of info on this forum is equating MRCA with LCA. The AF is definitely pissed off because they kept hoping and believeing in Tejas and after years and years of waiting they get half a plane and have to wait for another 3 years for a decent version??? This is worse than the 2G scam only difference its not a scam---its pure inability on technical front. Lets swallow the bitter pill.

Have they released any specification on LCA-MK-2? Would there be an structurally changes like adding of Canards or something?
