Successful attacks on convoys are primarily because of the poor response time or the non availability of QRT in the vicinity of the targetted vehicles. Terrorist are smart enough to attack the buses carrying troops always and they under all conditions avoid the QRT because they know they will eat lead. Mounting a GPMG is simply of no use tactically, best response is men with assaults rifles simply firing back in the direction from where the fire has come.It is not "Kheyali Pulao".
If Army convoys are escorted by GPMG or HMG mounted Mahindra Mine Protected Vehicles, perhaps lots of Army convoy attacks could have been prevented.
