That's your opinion, not a fact. And since the government had no explanation on the question why EF was not considered, that remains to be one of the secrets of the PMs deals.
I think it's a written policy that in multi vendor tender,
Once L-1 is selected , no negotiations are carried along with L-2. So even if eurofighter wanted to submit another bid it's a no no.
So logically the govt scrapped the deal and went for a new one.

The current deal is g2g like C-17, c130, Sukhois, mig29 etc. Based on technical eveluation during MMRCA, but not the commercial one.
I guess in G2G you directly talk with the OEM country govt. In case of eurofighter that's 3 countries ?

Also you are confusing France the nation with Dassault the company. France the nation is a reliable strategic partner, Dassault the company has proven, that it is only interested in it's own interest!
Come on, the EF is shit. The bloody thing got ground attack capability last year! last year!!!

It is better to take anything out of Aroor's mouthpiece with a live-'fist' full of salt.

He has been shilling super hard for the Americans for some time now, there are rumours of him being courted by the americans.
He is positioning himself as a defense expert so that whenever a defense deal is to be signed, defense contractors will hire his 'consultation services' to create a hype around their product. It's a long term investment for him.

@Pandeyji But we need the EF, Rafale, F-16, T-50 to fight a 8-front war. Who will save you when Pakistan, China, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Thailand, Cambodia and Nepal attacks us? It seems you haven't had a conversation with any IAF person. We need 500 squadrons of each type of plane to defend against this 8-front war.

I don’t mind when journalists do it. I only get pissed off when ex-officers do it, it raises the question whether they were doing it while in service as well.

If Livefist info about IAF favouring a single platform for both IAF and Indian Navy is correct,
Actually that's not what Livefist is saying:
Sources say the IAF believes the navy’s contest could be used to constrain the former’s own choices on what aircraft it should choose from, since it stands to reason that type commonality will be a priority.
So IAF "don't" want to use the same fighter, just for so called commonality reasons and would prefer to have an own choice according to their requirements.
That actually would speak for the SE MMRCAs again, because even if Saab participates with a naval version in the IN tender, they have no chances for the navy. That leaves only F18 or Rafale that could be forced on IAF and since they already have Rafale, it should mean, that they fear to be forced on F18SHs for commonality reason.

Not much of a secret...

Eurofighters were having airframes cracks around the same time, across multiple European airforces.
First of all you are talking about technical issues, which have nothing to do with the contract issues that @binayak95 claimed as a reasons.

Secondly, the EF airframe never had any cracks, the only issues was about drill holes, that were not properly graded. A minor problem in BAE's production line, that was cleared long ago.

So once again, there is no reason stated by the government for not considering the EF in the separate deal and that although Sitharaman even confirmed, that the EF was suitable to the requirements, as Rafale.

So all the myth created about negotiations with 4 countries, although each tender is just lead by a single EF partner, that negotiates for all, have simply no factual basis.

That's true, that's why the NDA government was right not to include the British proposal in 2014 and stick with the negotiations for Rafale.

But the deal for 36 fighters had nothing to do with the MMRCA tender and was a separate deal for a fraction of the original requirement with different contact details. So for this separate deal, the L1/L2 rules of the MMRCA tender did not apply and therfore the government could had asked for an EF proposal, infact should have (!!!), to not make a shady single vendor deal. But they did and no official can explain why.

Read this:

No, you only talk to 1 country, because each tender where the EF participates, is dealt by a single partner country. In MMRCA that was Germany, with Airbus (a tactical mistake by the EF partners) as the leading industrial partner, in Belgium now it was the UK with BAE, in Kuwait it was Italy...so 1 partner negotiates for all.

IMRH is Mi-17 equivalent AFAIK:)
LCH is our Apache. I hope they throw the "light" nomenclature out.
There is no real difference between light and medium for combat helicopters anyway, since they all usually have a gun and 4 x hardpoints. The only difference is, the caliber of the gun and the weight limits of the hardpoints.

Standard load for Apache would be:
4 x 4 x ATGMs
2 x 19 x rockets

While LCH could carry:
4 x 4 x ATGMs
2 x 12 x rockets (lower weight limit on the external station => smaller rocket pods)

It's not comparable to light, medium and heavy fighters, where the difference is more significant.
Not to mention that LCHs biggest advantage is not load, but the ability to operate at high altitudes, next to Dhruv and Rudra. The potential benefit of LCH for out environment and operational need, is much higher than with the Apache .

https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/b...israels-aero-t-to-make-aerostats-2319113.html

Technical textile manufacturer Garware-Wall Ropes Ltd (GWRL) has signed an agreement with Israel's Aero-T to manufacture and supply advanced aerostats for Indian Defence.

Through a filing to the BSE, GWRL today announced signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aero-T "showing intention to combine their capability for manufacturing and supply of advanced aerostats for Indian Defence".

"The intended cooperation will entail GWRL establishing an aerostat envelop production facility and Aero-T providing the technology... for aerostat development and production," it said.

2017 news. Probably after IAF wasnted indian suppliers for aerostat

Wasn't DRDO working on Aerostats ?

Is it so complex to build that we need help from Israel here too ?

Or is it like this firm is bringing a make in India alternative to the home made Aerostats ?

No idea. I only saw DRDO aerostats with EO payload. Not with something like EL/M-2083 type radar.
Might be wrong though.
