Scientists have identified a novel target for a drug that can treat the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, and also help tackle a future coronavirus pandemic. The researchers at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the US noted that scientists should prepare for a possible next coronavirus pandemic.

"God forbid we need this, but we will be ready," said Karla Satchell, professor of microbiology-immunology at Feinberg School of Medicine.

The team previously mapped the structure of a virus protein called nsp16, which is present in all coronaviruses.

The researchers mapped three new protein structures in three-dimensional views and discovered a secret identifier in the machinery that helps the virus hide from the immune system.

They found a coronavirus-specific pocket in the protein, nsp16, that binds the virus-genomic fragment held in place by a metal ion.

UK had more than 30K daily infection/ cases but only 30 odd daily deaths.
This is a massive testament to the fact that vaccine even if single dose, is able to prevent deaths.

Hard to say that....Indians have lot more underlying conditions such as diabetes and heart issues combined with tobbaco ingestion and what not.....vaccination may be one mitigation factor. Percapita our death rate is not that bad

Thi is just media recycle. Kappa is the N
B.1.617 Variant the ancestor of Delta Variant first started in Maharashtra in early 2021 which was overtaken by Delta subsequently. Now this is a very less in number and less infectious than the Delta. Nothing much to read here.

Do you guys find a pattern how Indian vaccines have been completely suppressed from the international markets by Pfizer and moderna? I see many suspicious patterns. Indian variant, then Indian vaccine shortage, then US donating 300 million doses, now Pfizer working on booster for the variant. India was really doing great in providing vaccines globally, building it's soft image and then the variant hit. In the meanwhile, poonawala is sitting in UK, God knows only doing what kind of deals with the pharma giants.
