Hydrogen fuel cells are very expensive. As long as petroleum is cheap enough, the chances of hydrogen vehicles are very low.Support infra for hydrogen vehicles is non-existent currently and R&D on it way lower than EV. The only biggie which bet big time on hydrogen was Toyota and even they have accepted the EV future.
But hydrogen is most appropriate for CV space where large batteries are not practical. I remember SC 'suggested' couple of years ago that center replace all delhi buses with hydrogen-powered ones.
So in that respect, the increase in budget for setting up hydrogen infra is appreciable.
