All those who are day dreaming about sending forces in Afghanistan. India will never agree simply because of three MAIN reasons:a) Logistics b) Logistics c) Logistics

Other reasons are:a) India will never operate under US command. b) US has more troops than India, they can spare more troops. We need our troops to secure our northern border first(can we ask our troops to first get 2000 sq km back from China Please??) c) You are going to piss of Afghans. Also China and Pakistan will rub their hands in glee as they can create quagmire for Indian forces with minimum investments.

Taliban victory will be a big "egg on the face" moment for USA. So I do not see that happening (at least for the time being).
And Pakistan which de-facto does the planning for attacks inside Afghanistan can just ratchet it up. If we start seeing Indian Jawans coming home wrapped in the Tiranga, it's game over for PM Modi's legacy.
So for me this is as clear as night and day: Enter the boiling cauldron Dick first or use the heat to keep yourself warm.

They are coming wrapped in Tiranga from Kashmir. This is a choice and should be an easy one for a large nation like India. Fear will always keep india at status quo.

They dont like foreign army on their soil. Once India steps into Afghan with Army, India will have hard time distinguishing between friend & foe(just like americans/Soviets). And that will just make both India and Afghan frustrated by each other

Why did we loose it in the first place? Local commanders should have been alert enough and grab hold of territory where India dominates for negotiation. To summarize: India should show guts where it matters.

Yes it does matter. Why should India fight US wars? Fighting in Afghanistan servers us no purpose, when the root of problem lies in Pakistan , which US is hell bent on nurturing it, not only that it is also sees to that India does not harm Pakistan in anyway.

India has not secured its water or food supply or its energy supply in no way has India secured itself in its neighborhood in any strategic way.

And US will give India middle finger when asked for help against China+ Pakistan combo, as US will still use Karachi, Gadawar ports for supply. It will never use Chahbahar.

From your posts I am getting the impression you view pakistan army as better trained and manned than Indian troops? Better at intelligence gathering etc?

an opportunity to secure the neighborhood and gain access to Central Asia.
India has to decide if the soft power image serves any purpose?
Long standing relations with other nations would not be impacted
